Now is a good time for someone to bump the 'Comolli you cunt' thread.
How is he a cunt? We agreed a price - he went to seal the deal and Ajax bumped the price up. What are we supposed to do ? Do a City and roll over every time ? We don't have the money to do that nor should we - sets a bad example to other clubs who may be dealing with us
We haven't made ONE signing yet. And if the Suarez deal is scuppered, we'd better have a back-up. I will wait till Feb 1, but if we we end up with nought, Comolli will be criticised and rightfully so.
But Ajax scuppered the deal buy reneging on the agreed price. Can't see how Comolli is to blame here. Yeh we need players I agree with that but to criticise him for this is a bit wide of the mark in my view
While your right about Ajax playing the trick here, we also should expect from him that he knows the market. That is why he is brought here. He should know that it takes almost 20 mill pounds to bring Darren Bent in which then means Suarez will cost more. I dont allways agree with the prices around, but with Suarez being hot and young, probably with plenty years left on his contract, I expect Comolli to know what can be asked for such a player.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I dont for one second believe a price was agreed and they changed it.
What a pile of crap.
We offered too little, comolli went out there to show how 'serious' we are, we still offered too little and like Barry, Simao, Alves etc before him we were told to fuck off with our penny ante shit.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Sunny, Comolli's not the head of the scouting department. He's the DoF. His job is not to recommend players alone - it's to make sure players are brought in. He's supposed to be the guy with the contacts and he's supposed to make sure the deals for the right players go through.

Sure Ajax might have fucked him over. I'm not saying there are situations he can't prevent. But if he's waited till the 24th without any back-ups (despite having some 3 months to work on transfers), he's going to have a lot to answer for.

Forget Suarez, from the latest reports, we are nowhere close to agreeing deals for Adam and N'zogbia either. Given that he's publically declared our targets (contrary to Kenny's beliefs that things should be done privately), he better fucking well be answerable. From all accounts, the owners are willing to spend money as well so if we don't make any signings (or end with Warnock alone), I don't see who else but Comolli would be to blame.

Of course, this is premature, but given that there are 7 days left (with a game thrown in between) for the transfer window to shut, Comolli better be working his arse off, or he'll have some very irate fans to deal with.
I don't think its our side who have let slip our targets.

Its the Clubs we are trying to buy off, trying to start bidding wars. As in this case trying to get Spurs involved.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Suarez must be well pissed off, if we had agreed a deal in the first place.

Ajax are acting like greedy cunts. The thing I don't understand by their stance though, is that he desperatly wants to leave. If they keep him 6 more months, his value will drop even further. So basically they risk losing out even on the fee we have offered now.

Hopefully it's not dead yet.

Which, given they AGREED a price, you could say he did know the price. Ajax then changed it. I've no loyalty to Comolli but it seems that it's Ajax that have fucked us over rather than Comolli fucking up. He does need to get his arse into gear though now.

You don't have to believe it. But I'm not ready to slag of our new owners or board just yet. No-one knows the full facts. The new owners do need to make statement - which we'd all prefer was in this window but we shouldn't allow clubs to hold us to ransom either. We have to live within our means.

But we should call it the day and move on. As we should have done with Barry earlier. Alves would have been a good signing but we valued him less than the selling club. It is fair.

But that is what I thought was the point behind the Comolli. To find targets which meet our valuation and get them. If we dont see Suarez worth more than Torres to us, then dont pay more. End of. if someone else value him higher, so fine for them. But the value for money expertise was what Comolli was supposed to bring with him!

And if Suarez is worth 35 mill to Ajax we should have known about him earlier and snapped him up then. Hence we need to find a cheaper man who will become just as good and work with him.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I wouldnt be overly surprised if we don't sign anyone and then blame the market for it..... realistically we are pissing around for middle table and cant really do much better than that so for what reason do we need these new players at such a bad time to buy?

If it doesn't fit their plan they won't just go and splash cash, just because we all want it to happen and have been watching us sell for a few years... that isn't their fault... they will do what they wish and no more.

I also think they won't consider it a problem to sell Torres up as he fits the profile of just the kind of player they don't like sabermetrically, not as fit as he was injury prone peak value decreasing etc etc...

We will see.

But then i'm not that sure about his Suarez lad tbh, apparently he only scores against the shit teams on Holland and he is nuts.

Well, that wouldnt increase the Real total, and it would free up Benzema and Higuain to less money. Thats the way a market works. In Madrid Jose is crying cause he hasnt got enough strikers.

I just think the new board have only been in place a couple of months, we're still lacking a CEO (which needs sorting out) and it's far too early to make snap judgements about us being as bad as we were under the clown (who was I agree a fool), Purslow and the despicable US cunts. They've had the club 3 months and things are going to take time to put right. If we carry on not buying decent players then yes I'll be pissed but I think we need to be a little patient as well, as desperate as we are. Things won't change overnight but labelling the new guys the same as the old guys is a bit premature just yet.

Also, no-one knows what's going on but, from reports, we DID meet their valuation only for them to change it.

Can't call this one either way. Much depends on determination of Suarez to move and willingness of LFC and Ajax to find a compromise.

The rational side of my brain is still not listening to the romantic in me though. There's a little deluded part of me that still thinks we're gonna get him.

Poor me.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

I don't think it's the current owners' fault.

I think it's our reputation that precedes us. The fact that we've been notoriously 'soft' in the transfer market for the past few decades, gives clubs and agents that extra cheek to bully and squeeze as much as they can from us, knowing we'll be the ones begging in a trade.

It also doesn't help when they are further boosted by the fact that a giant club is loitering about mid-table mediocrity and are desperate for quality reinforcements. Any greedy agent/club would use that disadvantage of ours as their bargaining power, knowing that we'll be the ones who are desperate. They can afford to walk away from any deal that does not profit them greatly, knowing that the clients that they represent are hot in demand and will profit them eventually, one way or another.

You see... we're not Man Shitty or Chelsea or Real Madrid where we're ready to lavish exorbitant amounts of money to buy what we covet. Do you not think that for one second those extremely wealthy bastards have not been ripped off in any of their previous deals ? I'm very sure they have been but do they care ? Their banker says, 'Who cares ?'

But ours say, 'We bloody do !'

I think your extremmely harsh here. We have had some wonderful players over the last decade in (and unfortunately out again). Torres, Haman, Sami, Alonso, Mascherano, Reina, Agger, Riise, Biscan to name a few. We also have had expensive players who ddidnt cut it like Diouf, Keane, Aquaman etc. So to say we never spend big nor we never get our players is just not true. We are a big spender, and like all others we have got it wrong a few times as well.
