Still what you describe is pretty much the rules isnt it? So you are wrongg regarding most transfers for the last ten years.
No, mate, no it isnt.

It is widely reffered to as "tapping up", and is completely against Fifa regs.

Apart from that, knock yourself out with the "Liverpool looking stupid...only ones flouting rules...behaving immorally yadda yadda yadda" doom and gloom self-flagellation.

Just received news from a *fairly* reliable source

Suarez will join only in the summer and Babel to go the other way. But only in the summer. Agreement with Ajax made.

Adam - summer.

Guillaume Hoarau - we've opened talks with his agent and club.
One thing that we can establish from this transfer window is that noone outside the club has a clue about whats going on. Not having a go or anything mate. But everyone is in the dark these days.
To be fair, Kenny specifically said this was his objective - ie noone should no anything about the clubs transfer business until deals are actually done.

Go easy on him. He's a Scando. It's all that darkness that does it.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

We had agreed a deal,Flew out to conclude the deal but to be told ajax had moved the goalposts yet again and asked for more money.
Now just had a txt to say talks have broken down and no chance of restarting.

So looks like its not going to happen after all.

Hoarau is a slighlty better version of N'Gog.

No Thanks

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Still a week left which should be interesting.

We may or not sign anyone! There's no excitement anymore.

Just checked my 50 latest without finding one slightly negative there.... So you got your record wrong. But hey, I know there is a lot of people who dont have their facts right but still have a strong input on matters...

No. That is not tapping up. I disagree strongly. In those cases the selling club gets a compensation for their under-contrtact player is leaving. To have a view of what the transfer would cost totally upfront is ok.

Tapping up is constant bugging of a player through is agent where also all formalities are agreed upfront and then you can push your media buttons until the whole situation gets unbearable for all parties. Ronaldo to Madrid in example.

But hey, lets leave it there. it is all the dark you know 😉

How is he a cunt? We agreed a price - he went to seal the deal and Ajax bumped the price up. What are we supposed to do ? Do a City and roll over every time ? We don't have the money to do that nor should we - sets a bad example to other clubs who may be dealing with us

We'll get no one KHL. No one.

We haven't made ONE signing yet. And if the Suarez deal is scuppered, we'd better have a back-up. I will wait till Feb 1, but if we we end up with nought, Comolli will be criticised and rightfully so.

Ajax are acting the cunts, fuck them.

Can't do dealings with a club behaving like that, & nor should we.

But Ajax scuppered the deal buy reneging on the agreed price. Can't see how Comolli is to blame here. Yeh we need players I agree with that but to criticise him for this is a bit wide of the mark in my view

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Depends on what fallback options we have tbh.

If it's just Suarez then it looks pretty bad, and very much in keeping with LFC transfers over the years.

We are seen as a soft touch; and it's going to take a while to change that.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Sunny, Comolli's not the head of the scouting department. He's the DoF. His job is not to recommend players alone - it's to make sure players are brought in. He's supposed to be the guy with the contacts and he's supposed to make sure the deals for the right players go through.

Sure Ajax might have fucked him over. I'm not saying there are situations he can't prevent. But if he's waited till the 24th without any back-ups (despite having some 3 months to work on transfers), he's going to have a lot to answer for.

Forget Suarez, from the latest reports, we are nowhere close to agreeing deals for Adam and N'zogbia either. Given that he's publically declared our targets (contrary to Kenny's beliefs that things should be done privately), he better fucking well be answerable. From all accounts, the owners are willing to spend money as well so if we don't make any signings (or end with Warnock alone), I don't see who else but Comolli would be to blame.

Of course, this is premature, but given that there are 7 days left (with a game thrown in between) for the transfer window to shut, Comolli better be working his arse off, or he'll have some very irate fans to deal with.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Dmishra - I would sincerely hope he's working his arse off too. We need some attacking talent
