Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Hmm wish this would just be resolved one way or another now.

Sign him or move for another target.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

He looks a good finisher, but there's some atrocious defending in that clip.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

He seems like a natural goal scorer and from the youtube can score with either foot, head, penos and freekicks.

I'm crossing everything for this deal.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

What I reckon will suprise a lot who haven't seen much of him is his ability on free-kicks.

He hits them hard and curvy and rather accurate too.

I can't say what I want to say, because I don't want to attract attention, but what I can say is this:

There will be a massive thing, that will happen. If this, shall we say, thing, does not happen, kiddos, the interested or disinterested parties will or will not unleash a massive rocket, which will transfer seamlessly from one gaping asshole to another, to and fro with a kind of grace entirely discordant with areas which typically extrude feces.

Until it happens, or doesn't, I will have to maintain radio silence.

Keep the faith.

ahahaha...

I think there's a GIF of that in General Chat

I was very impressed with a free kick in the clip. He seems a very good natural finisher in and around the box

Luis Suarez 35 Goals Ajax

Lads got talent - goals from last season. Apologies for the Europop.

[/quote]

Now thats a good youtube. Every type of goal, great finishing, admittedly poor defending on occasion. Goals from 12-18 yards, poacher style goals. And this is just one season.

Not sure if these goals are in date order, but there's an amazing change in the style of goals from the first half to the second. For most of the first half he seems to be blasting them to the roof of the net, and the second half they're more placed into corners along the ground. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but it stood out to me that he's capable of changing his style depending on how keepers are reacting to him.

I made the same point when the first youtube of him appeared a few weeks back. The fact that Rommendahl was one of his chief suppliers of goals says it all really. He won't get anywhere near as much space in the premiership. There's also a fair few penalties in that lot (though good to see him dispatch them with aplomb).

One other thing that stood out for me was that more often than not he was cutting in from the left on that clip. I reckon he'd be playing to the left of Torres in a front 3 (with kuyt likely the other side). It seems Kenny favours a 4-1-4-1 without the ball and 4-3-3 with it.

I hope (if he comes) that he's more of a RVN than an Alves, but time will tell. He's obviously got lots of promise and is too good for the Dutch league, but whether he's superstar material is another matter. I hope he proves to be for us.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

He's still only 23/24 Buddha as well. I think he has natural talent and God knows we need some of that at the moment. But yes this league is tougher - doesn't mean he can't do it. RVN did. Bergkamp did. Van Persie does

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Bergkamp came from Serie A.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Yeah there's every chance Sunny, but I think he's more of a risk than most think (especially at 20m odd). On balance I think it's a chance worth taking as there's something of a Tevez about him for me, and should Kenny be looking at a 4-3-3 type formation, he'd be perfect on the left of Torres.

Happy birthday!

Thanks

Well, I guess we have to sign him first ! And then wait and see. All I'm saying not every player who''s played in the Eredivisie is rubbish there's been a few played there/ come from there who been a success. Robben - there's another the dirty diving cunt.

plus he'd been a failure at inter - it was his form in the dutch league and as an international that made his reputation.

I think we have to wait for Babel to complete his move first, before we can sign anyone.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Hopefully Suarez can be our very Tevez, only with more goals and less of a habbit of constantly wanting to hang up his boots.

He's got a rather strong build and the fact he's South American and not Dutch or Kezman fills me with confidence.

Daily Fail, but what the hell;

Liverpool ramp up bid to land Luis Suarez as John Henry holds talks with striker's agent
By Sportsmail Reporter

Kenny Dalglish is closing in on a deal to make Luis Suarez his first signing at Liverpool.
Reds owner John Henry met with the Ajax striker's agent in London on Tuesday night as talks accelerated over the proposed deal.

Top target: Ajax forward Luis Suarez could be on his way to Anfield this month
Henry dined with agent Pere Guardiola - the brother of Barcelona boss Pep - as Liverpool move in on their No 1 January target.
Suarez's imminent arrival will relieve the burden on Fernando Torres, who has struggled for goals and form during the club's woeful season.

Talks: John Henry with his wife Linda in London on Tuesday night
Flop forward Ryan Babel is also on his way out of Anfield - with Ajax and Hoffenheim battling it out or his signature.

Uruguay striker Suarez fancies a move to Merseyside as there are plenty of Spanish speakers in the Reds dressing room.

Tottenham are also interested in Suarez but Liverpool the head of the queue.

The Dutch giants want around £27million for the player but he is expected to leave for a much lower figure.

Liverpool believe £15m is a much more realistic figure for Suarez and Babel could be involved as a makeweight if he snubs a £5.9m switch to Hoffenheim.

Dalglish, who took over from Roy Hodgson earlier this month, has inherited a weak squad at Anfield and is keen for reinforcements.

Henry and his wife Linda spent the evening at San Carlo restaurant in London after talks with Guardiola. Damien Comolli, Liverpool's director of football strategy, was also in the capital.
