Babel quotes being translated to read: The transfer of Luis Suarez to lfc opens the door for me to go to Ajax

If that's true, he sound pretty keen to go.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Here's the Babel story from TeamTalk:
http://www.teamtalk.com/news/2483/6669371/Babel-hints-at-Suarez-swap-deal

Ryan Babel is keen on a loan move back to Ajax - and believes the deal could form part of Luis Suarez's potential transfer to Liverpool.

The 24-year-old wants to return to the club he left for Anfield in 2007 to get regular first-team football.

Liverpool are reported to be interested in Uruguay striker Suarez, who scored three times at the 2010 World Cup before his infamous sending-off for a goal-line handball in the quarter-final against Ghana.

"The transfer of Suarez to Liverpool opens the door for me to go to Ajax," Babel was quoted as saying by De Telegraaf newspaper.

"If Liverpool and Ajax - whether in combination with Luis - can reach an agreement over me I will surely come to the club. For the chance to play I am willing to settle for far less pay."

He added: "For a player of my age it is important to be playing week in week out."

I'm not saying he didn't figure somewhere, but at least the majority of the lengthy pieces I read in "The Times" were definitely by Barrett.

I don't like that Spurs have stepped up their interest in Suarez though. The weeler dealer down south is a ubercunt, and if we fuck about on a couple of mill it could end badly. Thats my biggest worry regarding this transfer.

I like our chances in this one regardless of spurs' interest. Babel could be the deciding factor here.

I think we are a bit lucky he has been able to stay in the Dutch national team. Does wonders for his sell on price.

Fair play to Babel. It's a more professional attitude than many of us might have expected. If this does come off I wish him all the best over there.

Not a rumour but: Luis Suarez has scored 81 goals in 108 league appearances for Ajax, including 35 in 33 last season.

Wow! That's almost Alfonso Alves territory.

Suarez lines up Anfield move after telling Ajax he wants to join Reds

By Rory Smith
Tuesday January 18 2011

Liverpool target Luis Suarez is believed to have made it clear to Ajax that he would be prepared to leave the Dutch club for Anfield should a suitable offer arrive in the remaining two weeks of the January transfer window.

The Eredivisie side's new boss, Frank de Boer, has stripped the Uruguayan international of the club captaincy after a number of controversial incidents and is thought to be resigned to losing the striker in the coming weeks.

Liverpool have emerged as favourites to secure Suarez's services after Tottenham chose not to further their interest in the 23-year-old, who will only contemplate a move to England should he be able to join a club with a core of Spanish-speaking players.

Though Ajax are prepared to listen to offers substantially below the £35m valuation they placed on the striker after an impressive World Cup, the Dutch club will not countenance selling the player for less than £18m.

Whether Liverpool match that fee will depend on whether the club's owners, Fenway Sports Group, believe Suarez's age, potential and marketing power make him a worthwhile investment.

Manager Kenny Dalglish and director of football strategy Damien Comolli will doubtless attempt to convince the group's principal backers -- John W Henry and Tom Werner -- of that in the coming days.

Dalglish and Comolli have also scouted Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia intensively in recent weeks, and the Frenchman may prove a cheaper alternative to another long-term target, Aston Villa's Ashley Young.

The England international would cost around £15m should Villa choose to release him, roughly twice what N'Zogbia may cost.

Another Villa player, left-back Stephen Warnock, is also being monitored. Dalglish may look to bring the 29-year-old back to the club he left in 2007 on an initial loan until the end of the season.

I was reading about Suarez on twitter, and clicked on a link by accident and ended up on Rio Ferdinands page. Answering questions in a Q&A. Fuck me, my eyes are bleeding.

Liverpool must table 'absurd amount' to get Suarez

Ajax coach Frank de Boer has opened the door to a potential bid for Ryan Babel, but has warned Liverpool that it will take an absurd amount to tempt them into selling Luis Suarez.

Suarez is one of the hottest striking prospects in world football and reports on Monday suggested Liverpool had made a move to secure the striker's signature.

Babel added weight to the talk when he said on Tuesday morning that "the transfer of Suarez to Liverpool opens the door for me to go to Ajax."

The Netherlands international began his career at Ajax before making a move to Liverpool in 2007. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, the 24-year-old has failed to hold down a regular place at Anfield and it would appear he is ready to return home.

De Boer is open to the prospect of bringing Babel back to Amsterdam, as he feels there would be no transition period.

"The advantage is that he knows the Ajax system well," De Boer said of Babel.

Ajax would in all probability only be able to finance a deal for Babel if they sell Suarez and De Boer has warned that they will not allow the striker to leave for a pittance.

"We are resolute and do not want to lose Suarez but if a 'super club' offers an absurd amount, we would let him go," the Dutch coach told Ajax Life. "As it stands at the moment, he will stay with us for the remainder of the season."

Reports in the Netherlands suggest the "absurd amount" would be in the region of the £28.5m Manchester City paid Wolfsburg for Edin Dzeko.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Negotiation tactic?

The same article in Dutch mentions that Suarez apperantly has told his teammates that he'll join us in the next couple of days.

Most of these stories are BS anyway. I'm guessing De Boer doesn't call the shoots regarding transfers anyway.
