Liverpool insist the popular Hayton’s departure ‘by mutual consent’ in May has nothing to do with the various big contract issues facing the club — Raheem Sterling’s stand-off over a new contract, Glen Johnson being on a free at the end of the season having signed for £18m and Jordan Henderson having only one year left on his deal.[/article]

Hayton is set to join Leeds in the coming days after leaving his job as secretary at Liverpool.

Liverpool recruited him two years ago but Hayton, who previously spent many years at Wigan, agreed last month that he would leave Anfield by mutual consent after the end of this season.

His arrival would be another addition to the infrastructure at Elland Road after a fortnight in which United named ex-Hull City Adam Pearson as a club director and unveiled Uwe Rosler as their new head coach.

Rosler’s previous managerial job was also at the DW Stadium, though he took up that post three months after Hayton moved on to Anfield.

Hayton worked for 20 years, latterly as secretary. He joined Liverpool for the 2013-14 season.

Club secretary is one of a number of posts which Leeds have working to fill following the arrival of Rosler on a two-year deal.

United are finalising the appointment of an assistant boss, a first-team coach and a head of recruitment.[/article]

I believe the club on this actually. In the days before Chief Execs the club secretary might have been expected to get involved in things like transfers, but I'd have thought he'd be a rung below that on the ladder these days.

Peter Robinson was club secretary for ages and was phenomenal in the role. We've had very few members of senior management who have come close to being as good as he was.

We seem to have a problem with secretaries...

[article=http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/liverpool-fc-secretary-who-allegedly-3427930]A LIVERPOOL FC club secretary who allegedly had an affair with Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has left her job at the club by mutual consent.

Vicki Gough, 30, was at the centre of an investigation by officials at Anfield after the suggestion emerged.

Her name was originally revealed on fans’ forums after she anonymously spoke to a tabloid newspaper.

She was alleged to have met England left-back Cole at hotels before matches.

Liverpool spokes-man Ian Cotton said: “Vicki’s employment has ended by mutual consent between the club and her. We wish her well in her future career.”[/article]

[article]On page 64 of the document, Suarez’s solicitor, Peter McCormick, admits to the Commission that the inconsistencies in the player’s first witness statement, in which he said that by pinching Evra he was trying to calm the confrontation, were down to ‘bad drafting’.

It was an admission that should have set alarm bells ringing in his head and most certainly those of Natalie Wignall, Liverpool’s general counsel, and club secretary Zoe Ward.[/article]

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-2311931/Chelsea-hand-Champions-League-trophy-survives-tube--Charles-Sale.html]LIVERPOOL secretary Zoe Ward, a sports law specialist who was involved in the unsuccessful defence of Luis Suarez during his FA racism case, is leaving the club at the end of the season. However, Ward's amicable departure is understood to be for personal reasons rather than any fall-out from the Suarez affair. A female executive rising up the Liverpool ranks is Susan Black, who has been promoted to director of communications to succeed the hapless Jen Chang. He left after making 'inappropriate' threats to fan and spoof blogger Sean Cummins. Black is seen as a far safer pair of hands.[/article]

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-2086450/Agent-Jerome-Anderson-takes-legal-advice-Blackburn-abuse-Charles-Sale.html#ixzz3asH37y6x]Former Liverpool club secretary Ian Silvester, whose football experience was sorely missed by the club during their hapless handling of the Luis Suarez case, has re-emerged as chief operating officer of Norwegian-founded football consultancy Onside FC, whose mix of sporting knowledge is attracting bluechip clients.

Silvester lost his job last May when he was replaced by assistant Zoe Ward, whom he had taken to Anfield. Both Ward and Liverpool’s legal general counsel Natalie Wignall, whose club restructuring review led to Silvester’s departure, were mentioned by name in the damning 115-page FA report as being part of the Liverpool contingent at the Suarez hearing.

Before he left Anfield, Silvester had agreed a retainer that runs until the end of the season for independent specialists Football Factors to advise the club on all football disciplinary matters.
But the expert agency run by former FA compliance chief Graham Bean, whose other clients include Manchester United, were not used for the Suarez case despite being under contract.[/article]
