Looks like he's continued straight off this season from where he left it with us, with zero improvement made. Here's a few quotes from the bluemoon thread about him:

Sterlings performance tonight only proved that the best english players are not neccesary anywhere near good enough to compete at the top european level

He should try putting his laces through the ball instead of sidefooting every chance he has.

Poor finishing but overall decent performance.

He puts the shot too low and too close to the keeper.

sterling should be taken to the task by pellers and put him though 3hrs of shooting practice each day.

I personally think we got rid of him at exactly the right time and pulled their pants down for a player who's entire game is all about pace and not much else. Of course he'll develop a bit playing at a top club, but I don't personally think he'll ever become the player people think he will. Much like Walcott, people were raving about him early in his career that he was going to be the 'new Henry' but aside from injuries, he's never really progressed past his ability at about 18.

Does anyone believe that Sterling will go on to be a 'top top player' like the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Beckham, Cole, Terry etc? I just don't see it in him.

You are spot on. 49 mill is a laugh. Pathetic player at that value. He will always be a bother because of his speed but he is a poor finisher and not much better at assisting. He simply demands too many chances to show up. On top of that he isn't consistent.

History will show that you rarely improve dramatically with any of the above at the age of 20. He will peak early - he primarily offers speed and not much else.

We would be a better team with him though. He's better than Lallana, Ibe, and Firmino (based on what he's shown so far).

Because he gave us width .. and when Ibe came on against Untied we immediately improved because of that width. Lallana and Firmino are not, and have never been, wingers. Blame Rodgers - he should never have let Markovic and Kent go out on loans.

Sterling is a great player. He has a goal and assist for them already in the league. They are unbeaten and he is contributing. His finishing is still a bit off, he can only improve that I suppose. Also, there is way more to his game than his pace.

He's a clever player, not a pace merchant. I do think players like him tend to peak earlier, though. He'll no doubt improve, but I don't think he will go on to be one of Europe's best. If, however, and it is a big "if", he could improve his finishing, then he would be an extremely dangerous player.

He wouldn't be with Ctiy if it wasn't for his pace....agree?

Well, yeah, maybe... but if it was all about pace Usain Bolt would be a footballer. He's clever, but certainly pace is a big part of his game. There's no need to denigrate him for that, though.

He is an arrogant cock..

We lack players like that in our team... I like him despite him being tit..

He will come good people forget her is still only 20-21

It's in the balance with him IMO. I rate him highly overall and he's certainly young enough to get a fair bit better still. Where the questions arise for me are with his maturity - I'm not convinced he'll ever be sufficiently grown up in attitude to listen and learn as he needs to. Players like that are always in danger of falling short of their potential, and Sterling's behaviour over his transfer suggests to me that he's very much in that category.

No, there was way more to his game than his pace. When he started out he was making clever runs, holding up the ball, picking the right passes. Impressive. Then it became difficult for him as defenders slowly realised he was a good player. Instead of improving those existing skills, he fell back on his pace whilst his footballing brain idly rots away. A process which will speed up with his lifestyle. If you look at him now, he's nothing but pace coupled with shit shooting. He simply lost the determination to turn himself into a proper football player, and took the easy option which was to dick around then just run fast.

I've no problem with ambition and, however much the media try to portray things differently, I haven't come across a Liverpool fan who's naffed off with Sterling solely because he wanted a transfer. It was the way he set about forcing one through which sickened me. Karma's a bitch though, and the kind of person who's willing and able to behave like that may well find it coming back to bite him on the @rse one day.

Sterling is a hugely talented player and the repeated attempts to try and paint him as some Aaron Lennon type over the last few months have been embarrassing to witness.

It was also said that he'd rot on their bench yet he's started the season for them and it's been fairly universally acknowledged that his presence on the left (and Navas' on the right) has freed up Silva and finally give their attack balance.

That being said, he's clearly not going to get indulged as he was at Liverpool. He's got work to do to become more than a cog at City and elevate his game consistently to the levels we saw at times for us. One of De Bruyne, Nasri, Navas and whoever City buy next will be there to take his place if he fails.
