To lay the blame at Lucas's door misses the point, or indeed Babels or Voronins.
Stevie was not fit today and was generally shite as was Torres. To me that game just screamed lack of quality in depth. 3 kids on the fucking bench, none of which could change a game.
The ref didnt help i thought we were hard done by but nonetheless we would have hardly deserved a point.
Two poor goals to concede, defensively we looked poor at times, Carragher and Skrtel knocking each other out doesnt help, Carra needs to get on form in short fashion IMO, but generally nobody played well. Good run out from Johnson who looks a step up on Arbeloa. Benny is a far better option than Babel who was completely anonymous, Gerrard coming deep was a very worrying sign and one we dont need repeating.
I dont know what the problem was today because we just didnt seem "at it" at all.... maybe its the loss of Alonso and a very dissapointing summer recruitment wise, the added bonus of actually buying in a good new attacker apart from the threat they pose is that it would give the team just that little bit more in terms of belief. Lots of undits and lots of fans think we need more, maybe some of the players are as dissapointed as I am with the last two months.
Fucking cunt of a result.
Fucking cunt of a transfer season.
The positives I can take out of that include, derived from my own opinion which you can feel free to call nuts are;
1. A much needed kick up the arse for the players from day one after a lackadaisical pre season. The proverbial wake up call early doors
2. A reality check for the fans who were assuming we would win the league this time out because we were "unlucky" last time out. Shite.
3. Hopefully a bargaining tool for Rafa to go to the owners and tell them to get their fucking act together and find a wallet between them.
4. The sure knowledge ( knee jerk or otherwise) that Benny should fucking start when available over Babel.
5. Spurs away is a tough fixture every year so .... only game 1.
6. Johnson is an improvement.
