Defour as Alonso's replacement, we'd pay no more than 15mil for him I don't think.

Then it'd have to be a winger, most likely Silva 18-20mil
 
If we had a big load of cash, I'd like to see us bid for Essien or Carrick. It's unlikely we have any success but you never know and it would annoy our rivals.

I'd also be tempted to make a cheeky bid for everyone's favourite player, Tim Cahill.

I have seen him more than a handful of time last season, and i think he is better midfielder than Garreth Barry. His career stalled at Chelsea, but he thrives when played as a CM, and he never got that chance at Chelsea. He is very mobile and off the ball his defensive work is very good. He just wont be as good as Xabi at distributing the play, but he can also play ball. It would be a good compromise if we can get him at any where close to 10 to 12 million, so we can really go out and get another top class first team player.

Noble, Martinez or Defour is a very good shout. I wonder how much West Ham would want for Noble. 15 mill?

Young players though, thats the only drawback with either of them.
