You would hardly call Capello exciting but he is a born winner and maybe thats what we need right now, you would imagine that a up and coming manager with a lesser reputation like Lambert or Martinez may well have a little bit more difficulty convincing a player to sign for us than a giant like Capello.
Which makes last summers signings all the more perplexing, im sure that with the level of on field investment we did we could have convinced a good player that even without CL we had every chance of getting in....
In an ideal world there would be no time and press bullshit constraints, talk of terminal decline etc, in an ideal world our owners would be mega rich and splash the cash lavishing vast sums of money on players but thats not what is going to happen. I really dont think we will go for an up and comer and give him ten years to shape another barca...
We havent got time to grow another Messi, what we need to do is squeeze every last little bit of performance out of the team that we currently have and hope the others have bad seasons again, we need to get into those last 2 CL spots next season...
For that reason and for that reason alone I hope we do get in an experienced manager with a bit of gravitas behind him.... I cant stand the way Capellos team play but im quite keen on not playing nice stuff just to finish 5th or 6th.

Not really. I went on the internet, signed all the wonderkids, won the league with Portsmouth a billion times.
Then I started to rightly feel like a shallow, dirty and a fraud and have never since played a Football Manager game.
