So - United We Fall ?

The great thing about this argument is that its one everyone hopes they lose to Frogfish.

Oh no, Frogfish was proved to be correct, Man U finished fourth.

BTW, I don't care about where they finish, or where we finish, unless it's integer x,
where x>4 V x< 2.

No need to apologise MM if you don't want to walk the plank just yet ! However isn'[t debating the strengths and weaknesses of the contenders done by all even before the season begins ? Bookies, Journalists and just plain men in street do it ? Why wait to have a league position to strengthen your claims one way or the other. Why not state your convictions even before a ball is kicked based on the available evidenced one way or the other - with is what those saying United will win / finish Top 2 are doing.

Why not have the confidence in your beliefs, or just the balls, to come out and say it now before waiting for an indication one way of the other and then stating the obvious ?

You are right, if it just stops with a debate of their failure to bring in reinforcement for the players they lost last season.

But some of the posts on this thread gives the feeling that we are already celebrating their downfall, which would be premature....that is all i'm saying.

For the record, i think they will struggle too, and they will do well to score 82 to 85 points this year. But, that could actually mean they will still win the league this year. So i'm going to sit on the fence with regards to predicting who will finish top. There has been a ton of changes at all clubs and the Premiership has become top heavy. There are about 7 to 8 very good teams with the rest being absolutely rudderless. At this point predicting anything seems a futile punt into the unknown.

I am certainly not going to be writing United off. They have enough quality to always be up there, but as things stand they will be weakened without a doubt.

People talk of players leaving United and they always recover, and this is true but it doesn't always happen immediately. Look at those times when they DIDN'T win the league. They tend to coincide with players leaving - Cantona, Stam, Beckham. It took them a season or so to adjust.

It depends a lot on whether other teams can take advantage.

I wasn't having any sort of go at you mate. And for the record I don't think I've been predicting / celebrating their complete downfall, I've just stated the 'facts' as I see them and what influence I think they will have on United this season.
