There were two rumours, one that came before he was put on gardening leave and the other that came out after the fact.

The first one is that they fell out over the Babel transfer, the second that Pako had tipped off Mourinho to our pursuit of Malouda. I tend to take the first one as being the truth because throughout all his time here we've seen how well Rafa's people can put a spin on a story. (like the nonsense about Keane not being signed by Rafa)
[/quote]

So it is rumour and conjecture that you choose to believe.

I don't think 'Rafa's people' ever suggested Keane wasn't signed by him. Unless you mean gormless interweb mongs as 'Rafa's people'.

It initially came through the same channels that a lot of inside info comes from, then went viral

What channels?

The thing is Ross, and I'm sure you'll concede this, Liverpool is an extremely gossipy place. More than that, you could work in Melwood, or even be in the first team squad, and not know what the truth of these situations is. People will come to their own conclusions (pro or anti-Rafa) and transmit them accordingly. To conclude that Rafa is personally orchestrating the dissemination of disinformation is verging on x-files level conspiracy nonsense.

Team news seven hours before kick off from Sheik and Red? Does that not point to good insider knowledge? Seriously fellas open your eyes.

Yeah, knowing the team is one thing that somebody in Melwood or in the team can know as fact and I've no doubt as to there being a good source. Knowing that Rafa is personally seeding lies that circulate among interweb mongs is something else.

Just a slight difference between knowing the team news and what Rosco is talking about, no Nessie?

Nobody suggests anyone knows Rafa personally. I don't think even his mother or wife know him well, he is such a closed book.
There are other people in the club who live in the city and have no problems sharing info. Chinese whispers often ensure that rumours do become fables, but surely it would be naive to assume that all stories that come out of the club are false.
And the likelyhood of rumours being true when you know the source and respect it is dramatically increased.

No the chances of you believing the rumours are increased if you know the source. That doesn't make it true though, when as you admit, this person doesn't *actually* know Rafa well enough to report 100% accurately.

Has anybody said that they think this to be the case?

It's just that a certain poster tends to pass off "rumours" as "Facts" when he's trying to back up his opinion.

So my mate, a friend I have known for 20 years, who is the Godson of Sammy Lee and is the Godfather of Sammys' firstborn wouldn't have any insider knowledge or any story worth believing?
It is no surprise people do not post anything in here with insider sources, as they are just knocked about for it. It is not a problem though, that is everyones individual right to do so.

I'm not saying they wouldn't have any story worth believing, don't be so tetchy. The point remains that in terms of so much (like this idea that Rafa is spreading lies) is necessarily down to conjecture.

Has Rafa told people to spread it around that he didn't want to buy Keane, or that Pako was Maureen's spy? Unless your mate was asked to spread the lie then it can only ever be rumour, opinion, conjecture. That we are bidding for a player, or that the team will be whatever can be discussed as insider facts, this sort of stuff can't.

Sorry Doc I didn't mean to sound irate. But you hear loads of stories here, most similar to each other but you can tell ones that have been added too. Original sources are few and far between, when stuff has been posted here it has been ripped to bits so people don't bother anymore. Agger, Sammy Lee, Rafa, Gerrard, ........... if it doesn't fit in with a posters view then it is just bullshit.

*shrugs shoulders*

It appears that I opened up a can of worms. Sorry, that certainly wasn't my intention.

For what it is worth I greatly appreciate the insider information that comes our way, and knowing that it is posted with the best intentions, would be loathe to cast aspersions against the posters who do so.

There are countless rumours about everything concerning Liverpool football Club of which I, living in Ireland, am probably exposed to only a small amount of. It is human nature I suppose, to believe the rumours that substantiate what you think is the reality and dismiss the ones that are contrary to it.

Ross has never hidden his dislike for Rafa and while I would fully expect that to temper his view of the various rumours he hears, I also believe that he probably hears things that are closer to the truth than I or many of the rest of us hear.

He is hardly unique on this forum that he should quote rumour as fact.
Actually he would probably be pretty unique if he didn't.

So ultimately there is no real need for nitpicking at each other of which I consider myself guilty of too.

Lets just hope that this goddamn awful season is over soon and we can all get back to being optimistic again.

Jay Spearing has scored for Leicester City.

Wouldn't it be handy to have someone like that around, who can score goals while Torres is troubled by injury?

:🙂

1. Very little of the "inside information" is ever posted on the forum.

2. Maybe you've put the cart before the horse when you say my views on Rafa temper how I see the various rumours.

Jules, can you honestly claim that he wouldn't be better than N'Gog? ;D

Ok Ross, I am on the "Rafa out" bandwagon.
What more do you want?

I'm not sure where this 'Benitez didn't want to sign Keane' rumour sits in which agenda, but here's the truth:

If you don't think benitez wanted to sign robbie keane for Liverpool, and he was simply presented to him as an LFC player *out of the fucking blue*, then you are a fucking *moron*

End
