So how does this work?

We've all been riding on a wave of optimism ever since Kenny was appointed. We were bound to stop with the crazy optimism sooner or later though. Best we set the expectations now?

We all agreed Hodgson was the worst manager in recent history. Why?

1. Because we all agreed that he had the 6th best squad in the country playing like a relegation side?
2. Because of his negative bullshit?
3. Because of the consistency with which he played Pucas?

So the expectations from Dalglish are to improve on all three right?

I can't remotely fathom him being as negative and cringeworthy as Hodgson, and expect, in every sense of the word, to instill 'passion' back into the club. But what of the other two? What if his team selections are as cringeworthy? What if he insists on playing Pucas?
What if he has the 6th best squad playing like a relegation side?

We're all agreed that we can never 'turn' on Kenny. But let's be clear, if we don't finish in the top 8, Kenny WILL have failed. Right?

How does this work?

What? No. Not at all.

I'm trying to swallow the remote possibility of Kenny's results being as bad as Hodgson's. It's the most depressing thought I've EVER had as a Liverpool fan. I wouldn't know how to deal with it.

Give it some fucking time for fucks sake. He's been in charge for, what, 4 fucking days ??? 3 years of shite corrected in a few days ? Yeh, right.

it's not as simple as that dmish. Roy made us look small time. Half of the impression we give out as a club is press conferences, the rest is on the pitch. Kenny can do the job off it, but on it he's been left a crocked squad filled with half-wits and inbreds.

Kenny will be fiiiiiine

I'm not having a go at Kenny. No way. That's not what this post is about.

I'm just incredibly depressed with what could happen. I'm not saying it will. And I don't think it will. There's little chance of him being as bad as Hodgson results-wise and I'm more than certain that we will improve. But what if they don't? How are we supposed to deal with it?

I really think I'd stop watching football.

Look, nobody apart from the usual collection of mongs were saying that 'Kenny would get us into the Top 4, no worries, King Kenny can do no wrong, everything's great!'

Equally, nobody wanted Budgie to stay as manager, because it was impossible to do any worse than him, and Kenny was the right choice. He was in summer. He is now. Is he the right man for the future? I have my own doubts.

But the point about Kenny's 'legacy' or reputation or standing with Liverpool fans isn't dependent on where we finish.

He's untouchable.

It's a stupid discussion. He may 'fail' in this latest incarnation as manager, but he will always be The King, and the greatest player to wear the shirt.

And one of our own.

Hodgson's results/performances were only half his issue, he *talked* himself out of a job
[/quote]

And Kenny's his polar opposite in that regard.

But on tonight's selection and performance, you could argue there's not much difference.

it is different. kenny isn't a retard. its a good thing, a good thing that he gave everyone a fresh start and a clean slate. but the difference between him and hodgson and benitez is you will now be lucky to see poulsen play for us again

Well fucking said.

I despair sometimes.

Anyone who thinks it was simply the way Roy had us playing & results that got him sacked & turned the fans is deluded. His attitude & words were the main thing.

Kenny is one of us & hurts when we hurt. He cant make a shite squad play like a title challenging squad as he cant do miracles.

He'll be given time, & rightly so. He'll be given respect, & rightly so.

It's a pity you didn't say what Brendan did then. I asked a genuine question. There's no reason to be curt. I think it was an inability to comprehend.

This post was never about questioning the fact that Kenny's legacy could be tarnished. Brendan had made the point in a previous thread and I think everybody on here agreed with it. The question really is how we would deal with a situation where we want Kenny to step down if he 'fails' in this stint as a manager. How would it work?

This is again a genuine question and I'd appreciate a genuine answer.

If that's some sort of insinuation that I'm a fair-weather fan, I'm not even going to respond. You know how I meant that.

The other question still remains.

I'm going to get this kind of shit from mancs and cockneys for the next few months. Let's not have it here too.

The pervert wants pictures!

I don't think there are any expectations now.

All I have is hope and blind faith that our fortunes improve and we'll win enough points to stay in the League.

The damage done in the past has accelerated in the last 18 months or so and it's going to take time, investment and now luck to turn this around.

There's a limited amount Dalglish can do on a training pitch with what he's got. The players we have are fragile and new blood is needed there. From the owners we need to see them being active and sharing with us their plans so that we can feel part of the future and united about our direction.

Does anybody still think Benitez left us a squad good enough for CL and shouldn't take a massive portion of the blame here? Maybe the twats over on RAWK, of course, but anybody here?
