On LFCTV a while ago they had an interview with Carragher, at the end of the show someone had wrote in and asked him if there were any players the fans regarded as rubbish who were actually good players in reality. Jamie said something along the lines of "no, the Liverpool fans are good judges of talent and usually had it spot on." He then added that Danny Murphy should have got more recognition actually.

Now I may be jumping the gun but Lucas gets an awful lot of stick and that was a chance to stand up for him. The interview was either from early this season or late last season - the height of the Lucas criticism really.

Somebody a few days ago mentioned that the defence don't look confident in passing to Lucas as they know it will come back to them or go sideways five yards. Maybe that's true and he doesn't particularly rate him?

Just a point worth raising.

He is not the best player we have nor is he the worst player, in an ideal world he would be no more than a squad player, but there has been some justification for playing him as he really has been the best option.
Lucas biggest problem is Rafa, he keeps playing him when there are better options, and that ain't Lucas's fault

There are occasions when he has been the only real option, but there are occasions when he isn't.
For example when Aqualani was not available and then when he was, or when Gerrard was not available or when he was etc
