Does anyone think he'd come here ?

Maybe Masher could convince him ?
Nope and given that Masher himself seems desperate to leave, I can't see Tevez buying the tower of solitude lifestyle in Liverpool.
Ah, but we don't know he's "desperate to leave" and, oh, what the hell, WHOOSH !

Same on you, ken.
Come on, Themn.

Why are you disputing that lots of players either left or were pushed; we've practically been a conveyor belt for players coming and going. In any event, my point was that payers arent jigsaw pieces to be replaced at will.

The proof is that we've been waiting for the same pieces since Ged's time.
Mmm, yes, but is this all Rafa's fault ?

Let's examine this.
That players want to leave? No, its not all his fault.Though I think the fact that he thought players could be easily replaced meant he didnt fight as hard as he could have to kep tosewho wanted to go.

you've seen managers (MON, fergie) flately refuse to sell players whether they are unhappy or not. rafa could have chances it with xabi, xabi wasn't going to sulk on the pitch in a world cup year. I have no doubt have xabi stayed we would have made top 4 at a canter but what's done is done.

I suppose the more salient question would be:

(assuming that he does stay this year, as we all hope)

What will Fernando's minimum expectations be for next season?

Obviously no Champions League footy and he's a goner, but is 4th place and a bit of investment in the squad gonna be enough? Or do we need a serious input of cash, some serious signs of intent in the transfer market, and a serious challenge in the league?

There is a group of appr 10 players around which the two manufacturers are fighting for. The top three today is Messi, Ronaldo and possibly Torres. Of course it is a very good negotiation card towards Adidas that we can present Torres in our squad. He is Nikes man, and we give them access to his name.

The same with Real Madrid. They could almost dictate the new Kit deal with Adidas after securing Ronaldo.

Torres wears Nike boots in the ad for the new home kit. Surely that doesn't entitle us to get more cash from Adidas?

Well... To tell a secret, I was neither th guy who who negotiated the Adidas deal, nor the guy that signed the dotted line either. But I know 100% sure that they team thatnegotiated the Adidas deal, and the Standard chartered deal for that matter, used the fact that Fernando Torres plays for Liverpool as an aim to raise the cash involved.

The Adidas deal is a little bit special. There are only two manufacturers competing for the players these days (Puma etc is not the same league). You dont have to be a professor in marketing to know that Liverpool can up the deal if they give Adidas access to identify their brand to Fernando Torres who is hugely paid himself by Nike.

And you don't have to be a professor in marketing to know that Adidas will pay more because Torres wears Nike boots in an ad for their product. It can't be that 'special'.

There's a lesson to be learned in all of this isn't there?

'Buy Scandanavian!'

Yes these Northern Europeans think the climate here is brilliant after winters and snow and nights that last forever, there is some truth in what you advocate Ryan 😉
