Sebastián Coates

Wilson is only 6 ft, Coates would probably see him playing centre back and assume he was promising 15 year old

I still think wilson will get loaned out before the end of the end.

as for coates, a CB that is dominant in the air, able to play out of defense AND has pace, completely changes the dynamic of the entire team.

Never seen him play but I really want this lad now having read the reports.

Uruguayan defenders have always had a solid reputation. Good, strong, no-nonsense and hard-tackling.

He's not that fast according to reports.

If this is him then he's a fucking man giant.

Seems to have a similar physique to Andy Carroll as well.

most defenders his size are pretty slow over a 10 yard burst but the longer legs allow them to make up ground over a longer distance. That said I think we need somebody dominant in the air more than we need somebody who is exceptionally fast, it would be great to get both but not too many defenders spring to mind with both those qualities

someone who is dominant in the air is an absolute must, probably more so than the ability to play the ball out from the back or pace to hold a high line. the bolton game at the weekend is a worry.

At 6'6 he only needs not to be a total slouch.

Exacrtly, I'm more for a dominating strong defender than a quick defender. Agger isn't fast, however he's hardly slow. I think we're fine in that regard. I'm really warming to this guy the longer it goes on. Like I said in the other thread, I only want Subotic, Mertesacker and Coates now! =D

Completely agree, and the reports have suggested as much. He's not pacey, he's not slow either.

So LFC offered £7m for Coates, accepted by Nacional. Now that Man City are also interested Coates' father Peter is checking out both bids

>🙁

LOL@those pics! Almost looks like they are photoshopped, what a giant.

*tries not to get too excited about this guy*

the way I see it is if he fucks off to city then he is too motivated by money and thus we are better off without him.

I really hope the Suarez factor is enough. Please don't let City fuck this up. If we sign this guy, I think we'd have every right to call this a fantastic summer window. Icing on the cake.

He sounds great. Hope he's a fuck of a lot better than our last South American CB anyway. The only real worry is that he's so young: would he really be ready to slot into a PL team at 20, having never played in England (or even Europe) before?

Hopefully he's in a position to play quite a few games. Grow into the position so to speak. And yes, no way could I be dealing with another Paletta.

Are City doing a Chelsea on us?

Remember when they snapped up everyone we went after to leave them sitting on the Bench, fuckers.

So far the stories about a bid from City is coming from South America, hopefully its just an effort from National to hike up the price.

If that's the case Hansern, then we're in for a frustrating transfer saga with annoying sellers.

I'd much prefer the deal announced when he's on his way for a medical.

Oh, and fuck Man City and their fucking ridiculous "sponsorship" deal.

@bensmith_Times
Ben Smith @JZrenz not at the moment. #MCFC are trying to hijack #LFC's move for Coates. His agent (dad) is talking to both clubs.

They're fucking dirty cunts. This wouldn't reflect well on him if he chooses them. It's understandable choosing MUFC over us like Jones did, but this situation it's clearly MCFC grabbing players with no real need. He'd be much better off here.

Should be an easy choice for the lad.

Join the mighty Liverpool FC or Man (Google it if you've no idea who they are) City.

Thing is, as soon as they announced the 500m "sponsorship" of their leased stadium they should have had a transfer embargo placed on them for blatant flouting of the new UEFA/FIFA (can't remember which one) financial rules. That would have sent a message to all teams that the new rules are set in stone and unbendable.

You can't blame the player too much if his head is turned by them now, he's only 20. That said, if he does choose Anfield then he's got a wise head on young shoulders.

To be fair to Man City he has been linked with them all summer.
If anything we are just as gulity of hijacking their move

If he signs for City then so be it, we have played our cards, he knows we want him and we have the best Uruagyan player since Ruban Sosa 🙂
So if he chooses them then lets move on, we have other targets and even if I don't always agree with our targets at least we are not ponderous but nowdays very decisive.

But....but....we wouldn´t have 98 pages of transfer sagas!?
