Sadly, I feel Salah not drowning tools is something taken for granted - just like his contributions, consistency and availability.

I don't think he would tarnish his legacy by downing tools just for money. If it was money and another prestigious league, maybe

The time to do that would have been the past few weeks. Bit late now. I highly doubt he will spend the next few months refusing to play. In theory he might have refused to play against Newcastle and/or Villa to force a move by the deadline.

I'd rather sell him for 100m next summer thanks.

Actually come to think of it, the Saudis have given us leverage now in negotiations, thanks to their insane offer.

"We'll sell Mo half-price to you next year !"

(that's still 100M quid, which isn't too bad, after he's helped us win everything this season)

And if Mo wins AFCON and player of the year, we can add another 25-30M.

Win-win.

Yeah, its been so overly emphasized that we as a club doesnt want to sell Mo, but I dont think he wants the move either which has been forgotten to talk about.

Next summer is another discussion. It was never an issue for this summer.

The thing with Mo is that, he strikes me as not only a footballer but almost like an immigrant who has made his life in the UK for his family, and is more like an immigrant to this country. For many people, and I have heard this on various spaces - they think that just because you are a muslim arab - you will fit right into one of the strictest arab cultures in the middle east. It's not necessarily true - his kids have been educated here, they will have grown up with a western mind-set, and to suddenly root them out and move to Saudi is not always the most attractive option despite the money. It's not always that easy, plus you add the actual football and personal targets achieved, maybe he don't really in his heart wants to play for some micky mouse saudi league where the stadium is half-full and the players need 4 water breaks in one half.

Again - I don’t think his value to the Saudi’s diminishes - if anything it increases - they don’t want to wait - they want him as soon as possible and there is no alternative because it’s not his ability or consistency or even record they’re buying him for.

We need to have a plan in place that means we’re willing to lose him on a free in 2 years time and still be able to revel build the defence next summer.

Given we seem to have refreshed the forward line and midfield in 3 windows - I think we can finish the midfield & sort the defence out in the next 2 - if we’re sensible - and it isn’t going to take billions.

I agree with this, and would it be beneficial if for us, as soon as that Saudi window closes, we give him a one year extension to his contract ? if he signs with an extra bit of cash added the Saudi's may have to wait another season for him, he will be what ? 33 right - if that league is still running we could still sell him.

Alright… here’s my plan, such as it is.

Sign Andre in January and if this Bakayoko kid at PSV is any good, get him in too.

Andre, we know will be available at a reasonable price and we have one OS slot left for him to fill.

Midfield done.

Bakayoko wants to play Champions League this season, hence why he turned Brentford down. Having looked at PSV’s group - he isn’t likely to be playing CL football after Christmas, and he won’t turn down us for Brentford - he’ll get Europa League & FA Cup playing time and the chance to understudy Salah.

Plus we’ll pay him more.

Forward line done.

Matip & Thiago are off on frees next summer, so that means Gravenberch can be registered & still leave 1 OS spot.

We need to sign a HG and an OS defender - Hincapie & Guehi - that’s the big investment. We keep Konate & Gomez - Quansah is still considered an U21 for another season.

CB’s sorted.

RB - we have Van den Berg, Bradley & Ramsey - with VDB able to be registered as HG and the other 2 still eligible as U21 players. Surely one of them will be enough - or we could sell some or all of them to fund a RB.

RB sorted.

Pleasingly… Adrian can fuck off (probably) - Pitaluga has to be registered in the senior squad next season, so unless we sell Irish Kevin, which we might for some additional funds, we’re good for Keepers.

GK sorted

The other things to note - Carvalho & Morton are the most well known other youngsters that reach the point of having to be registered as senior players next season - Elliot, Badger, Doak, Bradley, Ramsey, Quansah, Gordon (if he’s still alive), Chambers, Harvey Davies & Bobby Clarke are all good for at least another year.

Rhys Williams is likely going to be sold for a nominal fee and poor Nat Phillips should be finally allowed to run free in the wild…

There’s a decision to be made on Carvalho - either he’s another good addition to midfield - or we fuck him off for a decent fee.

There is a question over LB - that can be pushed out a bit if need be.

We don’t need to sell, Gomez, Konate, Curtis, Nunez, Elliot - they’re all good and selling just means we need to buy someone else.

Jan will cost us £50-£70m - we know the money is there.

The 2 CB’s will cost us up to £150m total - we know we can spend that and offset with selling a couple of youths.

Salah can leave on a free a year later and we’ve got a revitalised team and space and money for a left sided attacker without having to cash in prematurely or spend a fuck load.

This is all manageable without doing anything drastic.

Yeah, we do take it for granted. Mo and his agent have been quiet. Mo’s a total legend and seemed well loved in general inside and outside.

Despite all things we could criticise FSG for, they don’t seem to have pushed Mo to leave and Klopp does seem to keep a content camp. How many players during Klopp’s management have left whom we wanted to keep? Maybe Emre Can but rest FSG have rewarded and kept. Even Coutinho, it seemed like we would have kept him for the record fee if Coutinho didn’t push it for himself. I’m grateful of how they are handling this and how they have done previously.

GK : Alisson, Kelleher*, Pitaluga*

DF : TAA*, VVD, Konate, Gomez*, Hincapie, Guehi*, Robbo, Tsimikas

MF : Mac A, Slobbers, Jones*, Endo, Gravenberch, Andre, Carvalho*, Morton*

FW : Nunez, Diaz, Gakpo, Salah, Jota

Key Youths : Bradley, Ramsey, Quansah, Badger, Elliot, Clarke, Bakayoko, Doak.

that’s a pretty solid squad - and still leaves scope for another OS player.

You sell Mo you might have 4 £60m shots at replacing him instead of relying on Bakayoko and existing players

So how about Mo doesn't fancy Saudi and we are happy to retain him. I mean longer term.

Next summer could have two outcomes; he goes to Saudi for a shedload or we extend his contract for another year or two.

When he is finally done (he's nowhere near yet) we can discuss terms to sell with Salah having a say as to where.

So my pref is we extend his contract next summer because he's had ANOTHER 25+ season and we are competing in the UCL again. Come Summer 25 if there's been a drop off we can talk with Saudi/USA whoever has the cash

I think we need some major improvements if we're to mount a challenge. £50m in Jan just doesn't do it. Say we sell Salah for £200m+
Sell Thiago and release Adrian
Get a RW, RB, CB, CDM and 3rd choice GK
