Let's assume there is serious money on the table.
Fast forward 2 years. Salah has just left on a free and SCM is in meltdown that we "didn't cash in when we could have done".
That's the dilemma for the club if the Saudis put serious money on the table.
This was almost certainly going to happen. So either our plan was that we were always going to say no, which is fine (subject to the leave on a free in 2 years scenario). Or else we didn't have a plan, which is not OK, because this was totally predictable.
Murderer? You mean in the US somewhere?Look at him. He's still in his prime. He could go and do a few years at Madrid and still get a fortune playing for some murderer after it.
Selling him now is basically throwing away any hope of CL next season. Its just plain stupid. No way will they do it without klopps approval and he doesn't want to sell. We will still get a huge offer for him next season when we have a season to plan his exit. Tbh I'm not even worried. FSG are stupid but not THAT stupid. We're in a year of rebuilding anyway with no CL to play for, so might as well cash in, if the offer's tempting enough.
150M in cash, all upfront. Will be mad not to bite.
50M for Gomez. No-brainer.
Heck i'll throw in Nat for free too, just for laughs. Gomez is nowhere near 30M, let alone 50M.
So that's 200M sterling pounds. Even if it's in Euros, that's still a lot of money to spend. Add in the reported 110M we supposedly have, that's serious dough for any rebuilding project.
You could easily buy an up and coming world-class Salah's replacement, CB, RB and DM with that sort of money.
E.g. 300M
100M - RW
60-80M - CB
50M - RB
70M - DM
Sell.

This sort of maths reminds of Essien Calculator memes.
What you're likely to see is:
e.g. 300M
49M - RW
20M - CB
1M - RB
30M - DM
200M - pocketed by FSG, to be made available over next 4 transfer windows.
Not as simple as that. We don't have the background team to take advantage of 200 or 300 million whatever be the case. Put that team in place and then sell the crown jewels if needed. I would rather accept 75 million for Salah next summer with a solid background team in place than 200 million this summer.

I'm willing to risk it for 150M.
Klopp's not gonna stick around forever so might as well make full use of him and enjoy him while it lasts.
Plus, why are you all so pessimistic about the rebuilding process like it's a certified failure ? It may actually turn out to be the most fun season ever.
Look at how we beat the barcodes. I can't remember enjoying a match like that in such a long while.
I am not pessimistic at all - for 120M+ - I would sell him. I want all of this to play out now so some people on here will realize that Klopp is just "False Hope", and FSG are just a load of Gambler Lizards.
To what end? So you can say 'I told you so'?
Righto then.
Just a reminder that for all our bitching about FSG not putting enough of their own money into the club, they have not, as far as we know, taken any out, other than repayment of part of the loan for the Main Stand.
I honestly believe that if we sell Salah, the cash will be kept in the club to spend - whether on new players or elsewhere (I think most of the infrastructure work is more or less done now, other than finishing off the Annie Road).
The only downside outcome I see here is if it gets used to plug the hole in the budget currently being opened up by the delays on the Annie Road, but even then I think the chances of FSG covering that loss for us were negligible.
Some of these calcs do give me a chuckle from some on here. So the assumption is whatever we get for Salah will go straight on another set of players but we know it doesn’t work that way as there third party costs involved I assume such as agent fees. We won’t spend 100% whatever the Salah transfer fee is, wise up…
If we sell Salah now, we won’t get anyone else in so we might as well enjoy him while he’s with us as it’s clear Klopp doesn’t want to lose him unlike Hendo and Fab. Why risk to derail this season for the sake of just wanting to get rid? I bet some of the senior players who are probably going on with transfer spend are also maybe upset if Salah is sold now.

It is not for the sake of just getting rid... I pointed out a couple for season back that both Salah and Mane's form had fallen of a cliff (Mane's was more obvious) but Salah's goal returns were down, and they continue to fall. Notice how he can rarelycurl the ball into the top left corner anymore due to being to predictable...? Along with his loss of pace he can nolonger score as freely as he once did for us.
When your form falls off the cliff you raely getting back. Some players can still produce at a high level, CR7, Messi,Modric, but most fall and keep tumbling
Torres and Gerrard to name two of ours. I was saying that Gerrards legs were going a season and a half before most excpeted they were...
And yes I have also said that Salah has adapted his game by providing a lot more assissts. But he nolonger scores as regularly as he does...The right thing is to sell him while we can get a decent price or as said Loss him on a free two years down the line
He’s not the same player but have a look at his goals and assists stats, whom are you going to replace that with a day before the window?
Plus my point was generally about the mad calcs being floated about with any factoring of agent costs etc.
Wont happen and I dont trust anything that comes from that end.
Which as stated earlier would give us a year to plan for it. Selling him now would be ridiculous and ruin our whole season. Fact is he's still our most productive player. Without him we will be dead in the water this season.Your point is taken...
We will not sell this summer, but it would not surprise me if there is already a deal in place for the summer next for Salah to Leave
It all sounds wonderful, but most clubs as we know don't operate like that, because they know its no longer possible to compete. If people can accept that we won't challenge anymore that's fine, and we can celebrate when we get a CL spot every season (if that's still possible) - then I guess most people on here will be content.
Good for you, I dont expect to see any upset posts from you when we lose from now on ,or draw against teams. Only positive Top Red suck arse FSG posts from now on from you. It will balance the anger and frustration I will be posting after every defeat and draw.I am quite happy to not be owned by oil money or oligarchs. I don’t like Buehly, but he is not a state.
I am still happy with FSG - more investment would be great - an earning trophies with hard work.
