Selling him now is basically throwing away any hope of CL next season. Its just plain stupid. No way will they do it without klopps approval and he doesn't want to sell. We will still get a huge offer for him next season when we have a season to plan his exit. Tbh I'm not even worried. FSG are stupid but not THAT stupid.

Not as simple as that. We don't have the background team to take advantage of 200 or 300 million whatever be the case. Put that team in place and then sell the crown jewels if needed. I would rather accept 75 million for Salah next summer with a solid background team in place than 200 million this summer.

That applies only if they pay in installments and all sorts of add-ons, as Beamrider will probably tell us how complex transfer payments can be.
But if it's full cash upfront, it's just too tempting not to take it.
Plus that 'solid background team' scenario could easily play out like ibromurph's post above, and we could end up with a team of Melos instead, so there's no guarantee and it's a risk we'll have to take. I'd rather we do it now than in a CL year.
This. Selling him for good money next summer gives us a year to get the Sporting director and planning in place. But sadly the club is at the place now were I dont think we could do even that.
I am not pessimistic at all - for 120M+ - I would sell him. I want all of this to play out now so some people on here will realize that Klopp is just "False Hope", and FSG are just a load of Gambler Lizards.

Just a reminder that for all our bitching about FSG not putting enough of their own money into the club, they have not, as far as we know, taken any out, other than repayment of part of the loan for the Main Stand.
I honestly believe that if we sell Salah, the cash will be kept in the club to spend - whether on new players or elsewhere (I think most of the infrastructure work is more or less done now, other than finishing off the Annie Road).
The only downside outcome I see here is if it gets used to plug the hole in the budget currently being opened up by the delays on the Annie Road, but even then I think the chances of FSG covering that loss for us were negligible.

I just opened YT and of all videos to appear on my feed, it had to be one of Salah's, esp. the partnership he had with Mane and Bobby during their heydays.

It all sounds wonderful, but most clubs as we know don't operate like that, because they know its no longer possible to compete. If people can accept that we won't challenge anymore that's fine, and we can celebrate when we get a CL spot every season (if that's still possible) - then I guess most people on here will be content.
Some of these calcs do give me a chuckle from some on here. So the assumption is whatever we get for Salah will go straight on another set of players but we know it doesn’t work that way as there third party costs involved I assume such as agent fees. We won’t spend 100% whatever the Salah transfer fee is, wise up…

Notice how he can rarelycurl the ball into the top left corner anymore due to being to predictable...? Along with his loss of pace he can nolonger score as freely as he once did for us.

He’s not the same player but have a look at his goals and assists stats, whom are you going to replace that with a day before the window?
Plus my point was generally about the mad calcs being floated about with any factoring of agent costs etc.

We will not sell this summer, but it would not surprise me if there is already a deal in place for the summer next for Salah to Leave

Which as stated earlier would give us a year to plan for it. Selling him now would be ridiculous and ruin our whole season. Fact is he's still our most productive player. Without him we will be dead in the water this season.
I am quite happy to not be owned by oil money or oligarchs. I don’t like Buehly, but he is not a state.
I am still happy with FSG - more investment would be great - an earning trophies with hard work.

You can expect whatever you want. I’m free to get upset or frustrated whenever I feel like it, but I am perfectly fine with not using blood money for success.
