Translated article:

Already the weekend in Auxerre to attend the victory of AJA against Rennes (2-1), Roy Hodgson was again moved to Sunday in France attend another game in Ligue 1. The Liverpool coach had chosen this time to Northern France where he attended Sunday's victory against Monaco Lille (2-1). According to L'Equipe on Monday, the Englishman would come to oversee Gervinho, with Laurent Viaud, recruiter Reds. Asked at the end of the game, he suggested that the Ivorian was not the only good player on the pitch.

Press linking us with Gervinho, but judging by the comment made by Hodgson, I suppose we might still be running the rule over Hazard?

Roy Hodgson watched Lille record a 2-1 win over Monaco to move to the summit of Ligue 1, but the Liverpool manager was believed to be present to observe the form of winger Gervinho.

L’Equipe reports Hodgson was present at the Stade Lille-Metropole with Laurent Viaud, a French scout for Liverpool.

Gervinho’s performance was rather overshadowed by another stunning display from teenage Belgian Eden Hazard, who frequently tore Monaco's defence to pieces and was directly responsible for both Lille goals.

At the end of the game, when Hodgson was asked if he was following Gervinho, he simply stated that the Ivoirian was not the only good player on the field.

If the Liverpool manager was tight lipped at the end of the fixture, his Lille counterpart Rudi Garcia certainly wasn’t.

“I loved how we got the win and I loved the way we played,” said Garcia.

“It’s thanks to this style that we got the three points. With a bit of luck we could have killed the game off, but still we managed to stitch up the result.

“There are only two points separating seven or eight teams and things can change quickly. But we’re making the most of it.

"The most important thing is to stay on a roll. This third win in a row is a fitting reward for the lads. All we know is that we’re positioning ourselves well to reach our objective of a top-five finish.”

LOSC lie top of Ligue 1 on goal difference ahead of Montpellier.

I want Hazard and Klopp and lots more names that I can manipulate into hilarious fake headlines.

I'm still smarting that we didn't sign Ribery.

We've got too many players that don't lend themselves to any amusing name-mangling.

"Lucas" - oh cheers. "Poulsen" - yeah great. "Konchesky" - boss.

Admittedly, these are all shit players, so ideally it would be "talent" first and "potentially amusing name" second, but failing the first, I certainly expect the second criterion to be met.

Gervinho's 27 and, prior to last season, had a very ordinary goalscoring record.

I would hope that Hazard is the player we were scouting.

If I recall correctly, Hodgson was allegedly interested in Park Chu-Young of Monaco just after the World Cup, although he didn't play in the match against Lille.

He was pretty good at the WC actually.

Still keeps my fingers firmly crossed Hazard is the man.

Yeah, just had a look. He scored 13 league goals in 32 last season. Currently has 7 in 15.

Hazard is pure class - fingers crossed. His flick for one of the goals was just brilliant.

I'd hazard a guess that he'd be too expensive for us.

Great thing about Hazard is that it is that if he's good, it's still a pretty cool name.

Can't lose with this one Brenners.

Hopefully not an obstacle.

And in the unlikely event of us signing him, and in a game against Man Shitty, our new superstar is repeatedly fouled by Adam Johnson and gets Johnson sent off, we could have:

"Adam Finds Eden Hazardous"

That's almost Gene-esque.

I wasn't going for whimsy

I watched this game.

So Roy Hodgson was at Lille's home game against Monaco, watching Gervinho and possibly Hazard.

In any case, Eden Hazard is a very overrated player. For the type of fee Lille want, it's a big risk to buy him. The problem with Hazard, is that this was his first good game this season, well great game, okay, exceptional game. There in lies the problem, he will have 8 very mediocre games and than one exceptional game.

Again - most of what the media faps about is his trickery and dribbling ability, which he was able to execute against a very hapless Monaco side, which were very withdrawn and gave him too much space on the ball, against other Ligue 1 sides, he's been invisible. Like against Marseille and Lyon, both games Lille lost comfortably, with Hazard not having an impact.

I hope no clubs are fooled with trickery because in a higher level league, he's not going to have the same time and space with the ball. As for Gervinho, I don't rate this player but I guess the English clubs are after his physique and there is a small concoction of skill included with that.

And if it came to blows

The dukes of Hazard

oh roy, you silly old sausage!

it's the old, old story: you arrive at Euston station with the idea of jollying across London to visit the family in croydon, and the next thing you know you're on the eurostar to Lille.

those self-service ticket machines are a bloody menace.

If we get Hazard, we are moving in the right direction.

We need to sign a really good Winger, Centre Forward, Left Back and Central Midfielder and replace Poulsen, Joanovic, Konchesky and N'Gog.

Id also sell Agger, Babel, Lucas and Johnson, get someone more reliable, but thats not essential right now.

You do realize Roopy that you just described every other player like him at the same age. He's 19 years old and light years away from the finished article. When you're that young you're bound to have one good game and a couple of bad games mixed together. This is exactly the fears most people had about Nasri, and look at him now.

You don't win the French young player of the year award twice without being quality. I watch a lot of French football acutally, and this kid stands out in a league that has become pretty good.

He'll be a great signing for any club that buys him and gives him time to develop. Our current manager isn't the right person for that, but maybe our future manager will be.

I really hope we sign him, as it's a big step in the right direction.

We should sign Joe Mattock from WBA and if both of them somehow score a goal in a game we can have the headline...

"Hazmat"

gervinho certainly looks impressive from those clips, and hazard really is an amazing talent - he'd probably be my number one choice of all the many, many, players linked since NESV took over.

got to say, on the whole, the type of players we're being linked to are pretty much dream signings for me: very young, huge promise, could potentially play together for the next 10 years.

sakho
hazard
griezmann
lukaku
m'vila
gervinho

all that remains is to go out and sign them in january!

Good post, I agree with every word.

Seydoux then offered a cryptic message of a potential switch to England adding: "A nugget is good, but in the middle of the desert it is useless."

Aka they want players in return..

2 birds with 1 stone!

Heres the full article:
http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/lille-president-seydoux-accepts-liverpool-man-utd-target-hazard-will-be-sold-1274321

Lille president Michel Seydoux knows they will eventually lose winger Eden Hazard.

Hazard has been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, while Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson made a personal check last week.

“For now, we take pleasure in watching him play, we take advantage!†Seydoux told La Voix du Nord. “But you know, the sirens did not start this morning.

“On Sunday, he was incredible. He has warmed us in this cold weather.

“We will not hide: it seems obvious that there will be requests for such a talent. But the player has already understood that he works well here, and that there are people who help him reach his level. A nugget is good, but in the middle of the desert it is useless.â€

I'm not sure that's what he means with the nugget metaphor but if he really wants players in return then Jovanovic would be a perfect fit for such deal.
