I've mentioned him a couple of time on this forum, even long before Rafa left.
Should we?

He is a good player. But knowing our luck with injuries, we should stay well clear?

On the +side we can get him on the cheap, and he WAS a quality player.
On the -side we can't rely on him to be a replacement for Torres, because he is likely to be injured at the same time.

We'll we've got Ngog too. I think he's good enough to be 3rd choice.

I'm not really interested in signing an injury prone striker who we'll most likely hoof the ball up to most of the time.

We badly need a stand-in for Torres though, one we won't have to pay through the nose for either. Santa Cruz is good enough for that role and, with Dr.Brukner on board, maybe we'd have a chance of keeping him available for more of the season than the medical teams at his other clubs have been able to manage. Not my first choice necessarily, but worth considering IMO.

Depends on how much they are looking. When fit he's useful and has experience in the league and European football. Do you think City would sell us Bellers and Santa for £10 million? Eh, eh, eh, go on?

Also, if signed he would be Ryan's favorite Liverpool player of all time! *Swoons*

given his age, wages, and injury record, he's probably the exact opposite of the sort of players NESV would like us to sign, but imo it could be worth a risk if city are prepared to more or less give him away, say £2-3m.

I can't imagine they will be giving him away as there is bound to be a reasonable level of interest.

Injuries and the seemingly Jesus like powers of Dr. Brukner to heal aside, didn't he have his most success under Mark Hughes, who played with wingers supplying crosses in for him?

Given that we don't play like that, would we see the best of him when he did make it onto the pitch?

there might be a reasonable amount of interest, but i can only assume he's on comedy wages that very few clubs in the league will be able to match, so city will probably have to take a massive loss on his fee for those clubs to be able afford to get close to matching his salary. he only joined them last summer didn't he? so he's probably got 2.5 years left on a big contract - can't see city getting much for him.

He was a great buy by Hughes the first time. But the £19m City paid for him is one of the worst transfers in the history of the Premiership.

Injury prone, presumably on a high wage and he averages about five goals a season over the course of a long career. He's only ever had one good season. Steer well clear.

Surely the point is that the new owners have said they are willing to pay but they want value for their investment.

Roque Sanata Cruz is highly unlikely to meet the value criteria given his age, probable wages and potential sell-on.

I'm hoping that someone really useful will come along during January that will provide the options we need whilst meeting the owners value criteria.

No thanks.

Get Bent instead. He's had lots of high-scoring seasons compared to this joker.
