Indeed. It would be amazingly great if it happened. But it won't.

I would love it if they sold him

I dont see it happening, mainly because Rooney wouldnt want it.

He's as close to irreplaceable as you will get, but they could do a serious amount of buying with that sort of money.

Like they did with the £85m they got for Ronaldo.

Yeah I know that Brendan. But they have always maintained that those proceeds were available if required, and even if they went to pay interest I doubt very much if Ferguson would agree to Rooney going if he didnt have the use of the funds.

I would love this to happen. Would Rooney relish the challenge? I don't know.

I seem to remember the Spanish Royal Family underwrite all their debt... Or was that just the biggest rumour in football?

Real Madrid have every second year or so election of the new president. He is responsible for bringing in loads of cash.

Today Real M has a huge Television deal in Spain as well as the biggest sponsor contract with Adidas. They are also good at negotiating new deals. When I used to live in Madrid there were allways talks about how the big banks were financing parts of the club as well.

They have a good income from games. Allways full house which is 85.000.

I also suspect there is an enourmous amount of black money put in to the club from various sources.

Tabloid journo in reporting internet rumour shocka..........................

manchester-united-prepared-for-record-breaking-95m-real-madrid-bid

Alex Ferguson is reportedly prepared for a record breaking bid from Real Madrid for England international Wayne Rooney as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in a new set of Galaticos this summer. The Bernabeu outfit is set to back their new boss with a massive cash injection and the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss has earmarked the 24 year old striker as his number one target.

Mourinho is hoping that the financial difficulties at Old Trafford would make the club’s owners consider such a massive offer for their prized asset but Ferguson is sure to fight against any potential sale.

Fabio Capello will be looking to Rooney to lead the line at the World Cup later this month and the former Everton man is hoping to continue his rich vein of form that saw him net 34 times in 42 starts. Clearly relations between Man United and Real Madrid have been strained for some time and Sir Alex is not enamoured by the club who has over the years nabbed a plethora of talent from the club most recently last summer when the La Liga giants stumped up £80m for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite Manuel Pellegrini spending over £200m last summer the club failed to wrestle the Spanish title from Barcelona and slumped out of the Champions League to Lyon. Mourinho has been brought in to reverse the club’s fall from grace in the past two seasons and the Portuguese manager has been told he will have large sums of money with which to re-invigorate his squad.

Didn't the government/banks buy their training ground off them only to give it back to them for free??

No quotes and all mourinho said in that radio interview was that he was looking at new full backs. Id love to see it happen but i think its lazy journo work!

I really doubt Madrid need Wayne Rooney.

Unless they are actually going to ditch Kaka and Higuan, which would be stupid*

*Yes, I know Madrid can be a bit dumb

It wouldn't be "dumb" if it meant getting Rooney. Which they won't. But anyway.

Do you not rate Higuain Brendan? Rooney is obviously better but The Hig is excellent.

At 95m I recon they would have to listen.

Ronaldo has hinted that Real are sniffing around Rooney numerous times this season.

It wont happen this summer, but I wouldn't rule it out in a few years.

Rooney is better and sells more shirts.

i can't imagine rooney wanting to leave utd, he loves it there. ronaldo only went cos he was desperate for the move, i doubt it would've happened otherwise, despite the size of the bid.

Higuain is better looking though, ergo, he sells more posters.

A bid wouldnt surprise me, but not 95 million.
[/quote]

Why mate?

I wouldn't be surprised in the fucking slightest? They (Madrid and Perez) clearly have no regard for Rooney's allegiances to United, and have history of paying what they want to get whomever they want.

What a statement this would be in support of the newly-appointed Mourinho too.

I'd fucking love to see them try it, just to see how United would go at not accepting it.

Agreed, and I think a bid is likely.

Just dont see Rooney as having as much marketing clout as say Beckham or Ronaldo; which means that Real's primary interest would be on the pitch...and whilst Rooney is a great player, a fee of almost 100 million seems really really steep.

Still, Real are cunts and I dont doubt they might try anyway 8)

And the lure of actually playing in a team of galacticos that night win something, coupled with a deal of 200+ a week(at 25% tax, not 50) might temp him.
