I think Ayre said that they would divide Comollis job in different positions. What they are called or how the set up will be I dont think anyone really know yet.

Well, one would hope that FSG know - otherwise they'll look hopelessly clueless. Pep Segura is supposed to be the Technical Director. There is supposed to be someone coming in to be Sporting Director. If no one comes it looks shambolic.

Again though, are things really as they seem, "things" being media murmurings over the last couple of weeks, like that we were interviewing 12 managers etc, like people *cough*Rosco*cough* assuming that because that's how they work in the States, that's how they'll want to work here. No one really knows. We might even get a DoF yet. Or we might not have wanted one in the first place. We might have even changed our minds and have had a few ideas or have been open to suggestion, which would piss on this notion that's been banded around here of late that they are too focused on a stringent structure, rather than looking for the best actual solution or the one that interests them the most.

No one knows, all people seem able to surmise is that whatever FSG decide upon, it contradicts what some dickhead on twitter said a week ago.

I'm pretty sure Ian Ayre outlined fairly clearly that they wanted to keep the DoF position but divide it into two roles. Of course there's been plenty of speculation, but I think it's always looked pretty clear that they were keen on some kind of modern structure.

I know there's been a bit of a backlash against the idea that the whole saga was something of a shambles, but personally I still think it was a bit of a mess. The impression I've had from the start is of them making it up as they go along a bit, and if, IF, it turns out they've flip-flopped on appointing a DOF then that'll be confirmed, for me.

The only quotes regarding that are from Whelan. Who also said Martinez was offered the job, when he wasnt.

As I said, I think they wanted Rodgers more than anyone of those who were available. If that means tweaking the structure then I dont see a problem with that.

We dont even know what they have in mind yet..
Not having a DOF or whatever they want to call him is hardly tweaking the structure, more like a complete and radical change in approach.
Hopefully it is all bluster and LVG is sitting beside Rodgers tomorrow morning saying that off course he wont interfere with the football side of the club with a knowing smile on both their faces.
But if he isn't as Sheik says, I will be very concerned

We're gonna win the league!!!

Pass & move - its the Liverpool Groove

I was pissed off at what happened with Kenny, but onwards & upwards ... BR is the new KD!!

I wish him all the luck, but before he officially starts I am going to vent:

Whilst every managerial appointment is a risk, it beggers belief that the owners are risking the clubs entire future on a manager who has only ever had ONE full season in the epl. He has won NOTHING. He has no experience in managing star players with big egos, he has no experience in having to win games in out every week. Again he has won nothing. Why are the owners risking the club's future at such a important juncture on him? We are a massive club, we deserve better.

Hear hear. Every time I see Henry do that smug thin-lipped smirk I want to smash his face in.

To you maybe Macca. But as I keep saying (to your incessant moaning about our owners), until the dust settles and we're not relying on twitter bollocks and media speculation there's not need to jump the gun on what FSG are trying to achieve.

I haven't a clue why you're so intent on calling them clueless/idiots/twits etc all the time.

And I've no idea why you're so eager to show blind faith. (Which I find equally as boring, although I'm not so intolerant as to demand you change to suit my views.)

someone correct me if im wrong....when the search for a new manager began....did they not say something like..
"a proven track record"......."has won titles/championships and has european pedigree" or something like that???

A statement of intent alright..if this was their chosen path all along then we had rafa/LVG etc.....i.e. manager has total control.....
Lets wait and see what this press conference brings us

I don't think it's a question of that, macca, I really don't. It's a question of being willing to see what actually happens, coupled with a recollection of the fact - and it *is* a fact - that FSG themselves have said nothing about what's going to happen, let alone why. When we do have the full facts we'll be in a position to form some judgments. That simply isn't the case yet.

Run for the hills!!!!!

Seriously though, the owners cant win can they? Best fans in the world, certainly not the most patient fans in the world.

If we could attract bigger names Klopp would be introduced tomorrow. But we cant and instead we are taking a chance with Rodgers.

I dont get the hate towards Henry at all, and why not just give them a chance to put their ideas into place instead of moaning about it without having solid information. They sacked Kenny, but which top club wouldnt after that catastrophic league campaign.

IF it doesnt work this time around next year we can all getthe pitch forks out.

so when ian ayre blabbs about structure and a plan in place......thats not FSG?

It isn't my club anymore. I'll never feel the same about it. It's just a business.

Been like that for yonks though. I think if we didn't have such a shitty few years and if were in the Champions League etc, no-one would give a shit tbh.

There were managers out there who were more qualified than Rogers, some of whom were unemployed. I assume the owners didn't want those managers enough to warrant an interest, instead we have taken a HUGE risk. We have been out of the champ league for 2/3 seasons and we are hiring someone who has keeping up swansea as the pinnacle achievement of his footballing career. If we end up outside the top 4 again this season.... I'm venting now, but rest assured once he signs, I will be cheering him on.

Jacob: that was then, this is now, besides which Ayre (a good commercial director in his time) shows worrying signs of having been promoted beyond his competence. I'll wait for an up-to-date explanation from him at the very least, and preferably one from the owners themselves, before I get aeriated (no pun intended) about any of this.

Jesus Macca, I'm not demanding anything, just disagreeing with you. But that's never the way you see it eh?

I hope he does well and I'll support him 100% but I was only happy with his appointment if the likes of Van Gaal were coming in as well. That may still be the case but if not The Club has been spouting a bit of shit of late and seem to be making more U-turns than the gang of cunts running the country.

Macca, I really don't get this attitude from you of all people. I don't want us to lose our ethics, but we could build a new dynasty here. I don't get what they've done that's so radical - and wrong..

You are saying it 100% how I feel Sheik.
I really hope FSG pull a watch from their ass

Is it possible that with a structure and philosophy in place,
Changing managers becomes less of an organizational nightmare than it currently is?

Is FSG looking for this stability in principles and structure rather than personalities

Rodgers is a massive gamble. I think we could have brought in a better manager

That said, every now and then a young manager works wonders and it goes great

Hopefully this is with us. At least we'll play attractive ball again. But we're a long way from CL material - something I felt Rafa could have achieved easier.

I agree with this. GK I asked you a question yesterday why you felt the need to castigate the owners in such a way. I didn't get a response so I will ask again. What on earth have they done to warrant you calling them 'fuckers'??

I was bought by the idea of a hungry young manager being brought in, supported by a football heavyweight to guide him (as Shanks did to Paisley, Paisley to Fagan, Fagan to Dalglish) and draw some big name players with his experience and contacts. What we've actually done is sack Kenny for Rodgers and put Ayre in charge of it all. If that's the case then there were far better candidates out there, on paper. We've muddied the set up not revolutionised it. I really hope someone quotes this in a year's time to remind me how wrong I was. If you stand back, Rodgers talks a gpod game but football matches aren't won in the Press or tv interviews.

our radical new mangement structure has ended up being the swansea management team. awesome.

oh, and i fucking told you. can i change my username to cassandra now?

Yet you wanted rid of Dalglish who won stuff but ultimately failed in the league and wasnt given time to correct that. The owners obviously believe that Rodgers is the right man to fit with their philosophy. Those who were dreaming of the likes of Klopp or a Rafa return were doing exactly that - dreaming. We may be a massive club but we are in massive disarray and we are simply not the draw we used to be. A hard cold fact but still that's where we are.

The club needs to transform and we've been mired in historical ennui whilst being fucked up the arse by two odious Americans and we were in the shittest state ever not so long ago. The owners have a plan to drag us into the 21st century and of course it will take risk, time and a substantial transformation. We've moaned about how poorly we've been run and performed as a club and it seems, when we appear to be restructuring to address that, people are going to moan about that too. We can't have it both ways. There will be pain on the journey.

As for Rodgers. Reading up a lot about him I truly think there's more than meets the eye. He's obsessed by football and studies the fuck out of it. We should give him a chance and that doesn't mean 10 games. It may go tits up, it may be exactly what we need. Just because he's not performed at the top level yet doesn't mean he CAN'T. Hands up who'd heard of Arsene Wenger before he went to Arsenal ? We'd have gone ape shit. As I say, give him a chance, you may just be surprised at what he can do. Time will tell as always

Don't think Van Gaal will be coming mate. Not sure the club has been spouting anything though, it's all been the media doing that and a few loons on Twitter

Talks a good game and produces the results with it. Look at Swansea last season, red hot favourites to get destroyed In the Premier League and sent back to the Championship.
