So we're slagging off the new staff without knowing anything about them? Ace!

I'll say this though, paying 7 mill to get their man tells you something about their intent. Could have gone for much cheaper options if this was all about the dollar.

I'm sure someone will find something negative about that aswell.

7 mill for a manager who wont demand a budget is better than a free one who will.

This just gets better and better does'nt it 🙂
So now SSN sayin that the DOF idea will be scrapped at rogders request 🙂

Aside from Keen, whom I don't know, the coaching staff seems excellent and one would have thought he'd show them enough respect to at least look at the set up and talk to them before bombing anyone out. No one would have been impressed if Kenny had brought in Pascoe instead of Clarke. It wouldn't be a positive move now.

With all respect Macca, only time will tell. We don't know for sure that Clarke's leaving anyway.

Why mate?
Because it appears that rather than be appointed as a first team coach in a structure designed for Liverpool to take the club forward, Rodgers, a hugely inexperienced manager, is dictating terms, putting in place his people and managing a top tier club without the guidance/mentoring and assistance of a more experienced football brain.

We don know that for certain though. Loads of people saying that we'll appoint a Sporting Director.

I know Hans and I hope it is true as I have concerns that Rodgers isn't up to doing all of the job of Liverpool manager on his own.
I was just commenting on the scenario that was being suggested in the thread.

Ah, right mate.

I think even if we dont appoint some like LVG or Tixi then it could well be that we'll give someone a promotion. Like McPharland.

But, if Rodgers get the full control then so be it. Think that can work out well regardless.

I am not nearly as comfortable with that as you are mate.
If it comes to pass lets hope that you are right

Far as I can tell the details about us not putting in place the structure FSG had in mind is based on as much fact as the last 10 days worth of "facts" on us having already signed Boas, Cappello and Martinez.

I'll be surprised if FSG don't have someone in place at some point as a DoF/Sporting Director/Technical Director etc. That said, if they don't then it's not going to worry me too much anyway. FSG have shown their intent enough times that we no longer need to question if they're serious. They know what they want to do; they've proven themselves hard as nails over many years of business - all of which goes to demonstrate that their not going to be blackmailed or forced into doing something they don't want to do at this stage.

If they've spoken to Rodgers and then decided not to put in place the original structure then many are going to say they've backed down or gone soft and didn't have the balls to follow through. The other way to look at it would be to say they've shown they're capable of changing and adapting when they become convinced of a better case model.

We've got a manager who's moulded a spare parts team into one of the best attacking teams in the country, playing exactly the type of football that most of us agree is the way to win the league. Now, before he's even met the team, we want to start crying that they haven't put a DoF in place as well.

Vlads oft quoted cliche of you can't please all of the people all of the time is, of course very true. Another is starting to spring to mind; people get exactly the sort of leaders they deserve.

WITH BRENDAN RODGERS all but installed in the Anfield hotseat, BetVictor and Hills have issued a series of Liverpool specials.

The Reds are 10-3 with BetVictor to win one trophy this coming season (40-1 to win two or more and 1-5 for a barren campaign) and 6-1 to finish as top North West club in the Premier League (with Manchester City evens favourites, United at 11-8, Everton at 20-1 and Wigan at 500-1).

The firm also make Liverpool 13-8 shots to finish fifth or sixth in the top flight (with first to fourth and seventh to tenth 9-4 joint-second favourites in their list) and ask them to give up 10.5 points to Everton in a 10-11 choice league match bet. The Toffees were seventh and the Reds eighth (four points back last season).

Hills make Rodgers 1-4 to last the season (11-4 not to) and 1-2 to lead Liverpool to a high league finish than last year (13-8 lower, 8-1 finish eighth again).

The firm have also drawn up a set of prices for potential new Reds signings from Rodgers' previous club Swansea.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, who starred on-loan from Hoffenheim last term, is 7-2 to secure a switch to Liverpool while Scott Sinclair is 7-2 to swap the Liberty Stadium for Anfield.

A third midfielder in Leon Britton and defender Ashley Williams are both 6-1 to make the move and forward Danny Graham is 7-1.

Not to make the move prices are available too.

Swansea, who finished 11th last season, have been clipped for relegation - 5-2 is now the biggest available - while the Reds are 40-1 with Betfred and Blue Square for a first title since the inception of the Premier League.

I know nuts about fractional odds. Is it too high or low?
Bookies virtually never give too high (long) odds, and 6-1 for top North West club is a perfect example of how they bleed silly punters dry. More like 100-1.
