Rodgers Post Match Interview

Did he get the idea from I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here?
It was a staple on Celebrity Big Brother, with the reading of each Mothers letter often reducing the most stoic of housemates to a blubbering wreck. This is disappointing as I hoped the 3 names in the envelopes was the last we'd hear of this sort of thing.

what a great way to "inspire" men to acheive their goals - a letter from their mum. it reminds them they're boys. what a load of crap - imagine the eye rolling if that happened at your place of work?

And of course, once you start using gimmicks like that, you have to keep thinking of another gimmick for the next big match, and suddenly you're thinking more about that than how to actually win the damned game.

I'm playing catch up as I didn't hear the interviews but did he really say that he took off Gerrard "to give him the acclaim on what will probably be the last time he played at Stamford Bridge."

Is he for real? FFS.

That's what he said.

That a manager who came from Swansea City.. Has managed to turn Liverpool football club into a team that is Marginally Better than Swansea City...

Progress

That being said... hats off to Monk.. Decent young manager...
He was at Reading and Chelsea as well.

So using your argument Van Gaal has spent more than Rodgers this season, had his team played less games and is only marginally better AND he's got experience in winning trophies as well.

And to the people who work in the background at Swansea in terms of recruitment and coaching. Every manager they hire ( except for Sousa) appear to be a success in some form or another. Maybe it is more to do with the Swansea footballing infrastructure than the managers. It will be interesting to see how long they can keep this up. It will be nice to see them establish themselves as an upper mid table PL club in the long term.

Both teams spent big in the summer

People argue Rodgers should of been able to build upon the success of last season... he has failed with that.. not only in his transfer dealings, but he has been found out to be tactically inadequate on many occasions, unable to get some of his new signing to play or fit into his system..

With Van Gal, like Rodgers he has had signings that flunked... Di Maria and Falcao.. Like Rodgers he has had Horrendous Injuries to key players all season. Despite all that he took a team from 7th to 4th with a defense that was put together with a sticky back plaster, and a team on paper at times was worse than last season.. So I would say given the circumstances.. he did very well.. The target was Top 4.. he reached it....

Val Gaal reached it by failing in both domestic cups miserably, not having to play in European games and relying on players he didn't transfer in so you're a barrel of hypocrisy to praise him for taking a team from 7th to 4th when Rodgers took a team from 7th to 2nd.

You see reaching the top 4 as a pinnacle of achievement. I don't. I want the team to win trophies and that's the one thing Rodgers hasn't done.

I do not See Top 4 as an achievement.. but to sustain a challenge and win trophies, Top 4 is an absolute must...

Rodgers failed in Europe.. Scraped through to the Semi final of two cups.. with horrendous displays against some poor teams on the way..

Suarez was probably more responsible for taking the team 2nd last season than Rodgers imho

Except for when Suarez wasn't playing and Sturridge, Sterling, Gerrard and all the others got the team to 2nd.

Top 4 an absolute must to win trophies, yep, look at Arsenal. Oh!

He didn't do it all by himself, he needed the team.

He was the key player.. the player the team was built around.. He is the type of player that can win you trophies...

He lifts players around him.. players look upto him.. He certainly helped bring Sterling game on in the second half of the season..

Both Sturridge and Sterling certainly benefited from his presence.. The team had belief.. That what players like that can do to a squad..

You could see at the beginning of this season we looked clueless.. devoid of ideas.. Rodgers didn't have any answers to get the team playing without Suarez.. The signings we made didn't have the answers either..

RedNinja, are you intentionally doing the "should of" thing now or is it just too late to help you?

Just start one thread where you can have a go at Rodgers. In the other 541 threads just leave it be.
