Rodgers Post Match Interview

Now you're changing the thread title in a rascalish manner to mislead people even further, and, frankly, I find it vexing.

I gave up watching him in any interview a while back. Life is so much simpler that way.
As did I. Win or lose he just tends to make me annoyed.

We win & he bangs on about exactly how we did, which is egotistical, pointless & ultimately self-defeating, we lose & he claims some bullshit moral victory by claiming we were 'outstanding' or blaming the players.

I don't think I've once heard him say 'I got it wrong', or 'I made the wrong choice'.

Yes. Look at this:

Liverpool started slowly — “not a new thing,” Rodgers said, a little grimly

I mean, why haven't you done anything about it, then?? That is a particular irritation, self-styled great coaches/great man-managers just sighing at mistakes that keep recurring.

Why do we have post match interviews?

We've just seen the game for ourselves.

Just seems like an excuse to preen or vent, depending on the result, and for journos to twist some egotists words for cheap headlines.

If I was Manager I'd tell journos to ring me up in the week and I'll give them an interview if I have the time.

It's in the premier league's contract with sky, tied to x amount of cash for tv rights, so it's a contractual obligation I'm afraid.

I think that is one of my main frustrations with him.

Also see i) the tactically astute move to 3 CBs - on the basis that we had to do something different given our defensive horror shows - and matching the formation to the personnels strengths and weaknesses was pronounced tactical genius - well, you fucking signed them Brendan, so going on about the 'masterstroke' also draws attention to your generally shitty scouting and recruitment ii) the balls out "im picking youth that gives 100% not prima donna internationals who are half arsing it" (Sinclair over Balo) stance....again Brendan, you're solving a problem of your own making - don't be giving it the "im dead courageous me...not afraid of the tough decisions" schtick.

Yes, I know, just me being grumpy. If I was in Brendan's shoes I'd get Kenny to do the post match, after all he's a club ambassador.

Report that, you fuckers*.

*assumes they've understood a single word he's said.

The problem isn't post match interviews, the problem is the questions posed in post match interviews. They were really meant to get specific info on things like, 'was that player taken off with an injury' or 'why did you bring on this player' or 'what did you make of that incident' - specific information. The problem is that you get idiot interviewers asking a succession of stupid questions (e.g. 'You lost. How disappointed are you?') and a few like Geoff Shreeves who come with an agenda and try to provoke a manager into saying something rash. So if you've got a naturally garrulous manager like Brendan you're always likely to emerge looking silly. Unfortunately assistant managers tend to be thick and inarticulate, so they're not ideal as stand-ins.

If only Stanley Unwin were still alive. He'd be perfect.

I'm playing catch up as I didn't hear the interviews but did he really say that he took off Gerrard "to give him the acclaim on what will probably be the last time he played at Stamford Bridge."

Is he for real? FFS.

If he read out the letters from the players Mums during last seasons title run in I can only assume that before the Chelsea and crystal palace games someone was informed that they'd been adopted or what they thought was their elder sister was really their mum.

I recall he did kind of blame himself after the Villa defeat last season and maybe Chelsea?
, but even then it was done in a heroic, taking one for the team context. "If you're going to blame somebody, then blame me". Not sure that counts.
