Roberto Firmino - signed the silky swine

It would be, but it would seem just like an accumulation of assets.

How many AMs would that give us - Coutinho, Lallana, Markovic, Ibe, Firmino, Kovacic.

Doesn't make sense. Spend on a striker, and on a DM please.

Or if you had to sign Kovacic, you should have signed him as a CM, and not signed Milner. And if you had to sign Firmino, you should have signed him as a striker, and not signed Ings.

I worry that there's no coherent plan at all. But then we should be used to that by now.

I get what you mean, but we'd have a barely fit Sturridge, with Origi and Ings who can both play as outside forwards as well as through the middle. I'd reshape the middle of the park - mix it between Henderson, Kovacic and Milner, with Allen disposed of and Lucas there to help bring Can through the ranks (those two would be vying for the DM role). Coutinho and Firmino as the catalysts in attack. It's not too much competition, I think with that you've got maybe a +2 in midfield and attack to rotate, which is fine if we're in the Europa League as well.

There's been no credible links to Firmino or Kovacic have there?

This could be another window of hoping for a Shaquiri then ending up with some young prospect we've never heard of before.

I like the idea of signing Firmino to play up top regardless of Ings. But, yeah, we're not signing him.

While Firmino *might* do well up front, he's an AM by trade. Fine player though he is, I'd sooner sign a striker to play as a striker.

Looks like we called it right, papers say ManU have agreed to buy him

They've already got Mata, Di Maria, Rooney, Fellaini, janetsvaj, depay all wanting to play as an AM, buying another one would be a strange decision.

We need a defensive midfielder and a striker before thinking about any attacking midfielders.

Don't worry lads, Rodgers is on his way home to sort this shit out.

Tony Evans:

“There’s going to be a lot of interest in for him (Firmino) I’d expect him to head to a Champions League club but he’s a name to replace Sterling with at the moment.
“Without the attraction of Champions League football, with a relatively low wage structure, I’m not so sure the transfer will happen. The fee will be way above £20m, at least in the £25m range and one of the things they do like about him is his versatility. It’s been a constant thread in Liverpool’s transfer business, players that can play in all kind of positions.”

I've seen him highlights of games where he's featured - never a full game. Don't know how bad/good he is ...

Interest in Kovacic is meant to be hotting up with us and we're getting close to their valuation, with Inter already having replacements lined up. I don't think we'll get Firmino because I think one of the big guns will be in for him and we won't want to get dragged into a bidding war only to lose out again and look like chumps.

Evans said we aren't in for Kovacic.;
