To be fair, looking at their squad, it's probably more to do with preventing injuries than any tangible psychological reason.

48 hours after the Sunderland game, 9 first team players out, with only Mata the only of our £200m signings since last summer to play this year.

It doesn't excuse the performance last night from the players but partially explains why he fielded the team he did

#MUFC have spent £213.7m since start of 2013. So far this equals 35 starts and seven goals

Considering £130m was spent in this window, and £60m yesterday not a very meaningful stat

Should improve by the end of the season 🙂 Probably going to be £250m by then.

Most but definitely not all fans know there is no quick fix. The club definitely know.

There is no necessity for us to get top 4 this season. Financially income will be higher next season without CL than last season with it and still way higher than the top 4.
With the Di Maria signing we have proven we can still attract the best without CL.
That second bit is bollox.
Kroos,Vidal and a few other top names were linked with ye for a long time and they were hardly sending out come and get me signals towards United.
As for Di Maria.
No other club bar Psg were even linked with him and even at that they had the cop on not to pay that crazy fee.
You have basically picked up a player that Mourinho didn't want in Mata,A Real Madrid reject in Di Maria and a player with one international cap all for the tune of 140 million.
You're as desperate as a horny Irish bloke at 2.30 on Lime Street.

It's not about Utd being attractive, though, it's about the money being so. City are where they are today through throwing money at the issue. You're following suit.

Utd are now back to doing what they regularly did in the Ferguson's early days; breaking transfer records.

When are we going to stop obsessing about these cunts and just sit back and quietly enjoy them unravelling.

To be honest, her photo shoots look way better than on tv. Google nicky whelan ballet. But make sure you are on your own, and have a bit of time spare.

Yes we are desparate for quality players. But the 3 have mentioned above and Shaw are all quality players who will improve us when they start playing.

Did we over pay? Absolutely and by quite a bit in some circumstances.
But ths fee doesn't really matter, as they will all improve the team. No they won't improve us less because we paid more for them.

Kroos picked RM above us, no shame in that.
The Vidal rumors haven't died down completely with talk of Hernandez going in other direction as part of a deal. Well just have to wait and see what happens before the end of window.

This is right. If Di Maria goes on to be one of your greats, the fee becomes somewhat irrelevant.

If you can throw money at the problem - and Man Utd obviously can - then, like the oil clubs, overpaying by 5, 10, 15 million doesn't matter.

Not proud but glad we have moved on from SAF "no value" comments.

Have a sneaky feeling he enjoyed competing with City and Chelsea without spending big. Also has the advantage that he seems to have left a war chest for his successor(s).

I think you're right and I think he did.

But your club is now suffering as a result.
