Of course it is, but the difference is Hodgson has clearly shown he's past it, too much of a nice man and not really cut out for it at all, especially dealing with overpaid pre-Madonna's.

LOL

Apparently Ian Ayre offered his resignation yesterday as well but it wasnt accepted
Which is great news - he can hold his head up high for the good work he's done so far

Is there more to the fact Dalglish hasn't travelled to Napoli?
Supposedly had a fight with Roy.

Also saying that he is there to bring in FR, and convince Gerrard and Torres to stay.
a la liga winner and european cup winner is bound to carry the respect of the senior players...
Ha!

You did do that on purpose, right?

yep 🙂

I imagine Rijkaard is a guy who players will either love or hate.

Has the rumour that 2 players have refused to play been mentioned?? Probably bollocks but who cares

Right, but... we can't get into a habit of sacking a manager three times a season. This one's got to last. If we believe Rijkaard is the man, then he has to be backed. And if that means that certain players start moaning, in the hope of getting a manager they're happier with, then those players are the ones who have to go, not the manager. A manager without authority is a dead man walking, as we've already seen with Roy...

If Roy really has restricted Kenny from going to the game then to me it indicates that the players have voiced dissatisfaction to Dalglish, who has then forwarded this onto the new owners. New owners tell Hodgson about the problems and Roy believes that Dalglish is trying to undermine him for his own benefit.

Maybe...

Anyway, I still think the players are acting and playing like cunts, and this is being dismissed as as side issue, when really it should be more prevalent.
deja vu anyone?
The suggestion/rumour on Rawk is that Kenny is staying behind to deal with Rijkaard and also both Torres and Gerrard are to meet him in order to convince them to stay.

Honestly i would say its unlikely. I reckon Roy will be ousted but Kenny will be incharge untill a CEO can be appointed. I suggest Brian Barwick.

Or we become Newcastle

He's been average at every club he's managed apart from Barcelona so I'm pretty unconvinced about him. I know 'he couldn't be any worse than Roy' but the next manager we have needs to be able to build an unperforming club that has seen so much change and upheavel from top to bottom in a short space of time. Rijkaard's not shown evidence of that.

There's very few who we could justifiably look at though. Either we couldn't afford to get them out their contract or they wouldn't want to come to our dressing room mess

True. Disregard the cost aspect then

We're pretty much a shitfest at the moment. The board is sorted but everything else is awful

still think i do

We need someone, and I feel dirty saying this, like Redknapp. I can't think of other almost certain to improve appointments.

It's so critical we get this right, and I'm worried about Rijkaard, but given the situation, I think I'd be worried about anyone.

The reality is that Rijkaard has failed quite a bit, but if he did succeed here, he could, in our new overlord's words, be a "bold and agressive" appointment that would leave room to grow.

Don't forget 'and then win the title'.

Rafa and Ged both managed what you describe above.

They didn't have to contend with a change of ownership and total restructure of the board etc.

Winning the title isn't a factor right now at all. We need someone to find us some wins, who could also compete next year for 4th.

A new board coming in is always going to add pressure to a manager as the board are always going to have to decide whether or not to bring in their own man. Whether they do or don't the manager is going to have to deal with a lot of change/upheaval. The new manager will have been appointed by the board and will (presumably) have their backing.

Rijkaard will not make Liverpool play like Barcelona simply because he was the manager of Barcelona once. If anything, he made Barca's play more in a more defensive and rational way which created a balance they were previously lacking. He couldn't keep that balance for a long time and got fired. Liverpool is in a completely different situation compared to Barca and nothing in Rijkaard's resume tells me he has the right qualities for our situation. I am deeply unconvinced about this candidacy.
