Of course it is, but the difference is Hodgson has clearly shown he's past it, too much of a nice man and not really cut out for it at all, especially dealing with overpaid pre-Madonna's, which is more or less a given of the modern game (cf Rooney).
Rijkaard, you can only hope, would command more respect because of where he's coming from and who he is.
