Returning the glory of the FA Cup

It's the oldest cup competition in football in the world, and once held as much prestige as winning the league. Due to TV money, winning the PL and qualifying for the CL is paramount as a result the FA Cup is seen as less of a priority.

I still remember as a child how big the FA Cup final was, and it was a huge international event. I would like to see the FA Cup to return to some of it's former glory. To do that, I would suggest they give the 4th placement in the CL to the FA Cup winner. Getting sponsor(s) for the FA Cup which will allow it to have a much bigger prize pot. I think then the bigger teams will take it more seriously in the early rounds, and not put out a weakened team

It's dead, the game has moved on. It'll never generate as much funds as the league or CL. Tbh i reckon we will be in a super league within 10 year with the other greats of European football.

Having one Premier League team use Wembley as a home stadium, with the likes of Burnley and Bournemouth playing there in run of the mill games, has certainly drained any last-remaining allure that the cup final still had, so the FA deserves nothing but contempt if it tries to encourage us to revive the 'spirit' of the competition. The FA Cup was a huge event when (a) live games on TV were a massive novelty and (b) playing at Wembley was some strange and exciting event. Neither applies any more. You'll have a better chance of reviving Top of the Pops.

The only way to revive intrest from a lot of premier league teams is to make the prize money a lot more than it is as unfortunately money rules the modern game and clubs aren't going to risk their place in the league for peanuts. I don't think this will ever happen though as the FA are mingebags.

It's like this in every country.

The only chance would be the resurrection of the Cup Winner's Cup.

Yeah, the domestic cups are secondary competitions now and there is no way back.

As others have said, I'd put out a reserve team against Wolves. We have to prioritize.

The way I see it - we should strive to stay in the competition using are non top players. We cannot afford injuries to our main players; but also we should use it as a release mechanism to lose a game when the team are overwhelmed by winning. One of the great things about the CL losses in group stages is that it allowed the team to experience loss - a bit like a massive cum shot at the end of a long fuck.

It's a joke that you get into the Europa League for winning the league cup. If they scrapped that and persuaded UEFA to enter the FA Cup winners into, say, the qualifying round for the Champions League, then it would at least make the competition more appealing to clubs. It wouldn't bring 'the romance of the cup' back - nothing will - but it would make it a bit more of an event. Aside from that, I guess they could manipulate it a bit by awarding home ties to the lower-placed clubs each round, but that would undermine the tournament as a potential windfall for the minnows.

From 2020 League Cup winners will enter into the Europa League 2 at the Playoff Stage

Scrap the league cup so we have just one domestic cup, go back to regional semifinals and have a playoff between fa cup winner vs 4th place to get last UCL place

(I’ve just imagined a season when Everton come 4th and get bummed by Coventry for the UCL place!!!)

Actually I’ve just looked up the winners for the last 26 years and only four teams other than us, Scum, Arse or Chelski have won it; Everton, Citeh, Wigan and Portsmouth.

So much for the magic!!
