Return of the Ox

Ya he certainly did. Shame he didn’t bury that chance.

Would be special for him to contribute in the CL from the semi final on and collect a winners medal

There isn't much time left no but there's still a big contribution he can deliver to us.

The next month will be the most important in decades so on that basis he's come back at a great time. (Gomez too)

He did look lively albeit against a wounded and leggy championship side.

Bigger tests ahead but so genuinely happy for the chap because he is so likeable and an obvious positive influence in the dressing room. He's really had such a stop start career but he just seems so confident. Hope he gets his moments of magic in the run in and that he can stay injury free for a long time.

Liverpool are set to reward Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with a new contract until 2023 - just days after the 25-year-old England midfielder made his return from a year-long injury absence. (Mirror)

As good as a player he is, he is just too injury prone. If there is someone equal or better than him we could get for around £60m I would sell Ox.

Its a 12 month extension to his current contract. I think its a great gesture in all honesty.
In your honest opinion, how many games fo you really see him playing for us? You can be the best player in the world but if you're only available for 15 games a season because of injury, are you worth the investment?

No, of course not. And it's fair to acknowledge Ox's dreadful injury record.

But his most recent injury isn't one that you could say was an example of being "injury-prone" in terms of a repeating, congenital weakness, like Owen Hargreaves, Ledley King or Michael Owen, for example.

Yes.. because we 'only' paid 35 million for him.. in this market we would easily get that back..

If you were a bookie, what odds would you give of him not sustaining serious injury next season?

If someone pays north of £50m for him, I would say adios.

We bought him even when he was deemed "injury prone" at Arsenal, so we shouldn't pin him down for it. With us he got injured while playing, which is unfortunate but I'll rather that then the players who get mysterious injuries like Studge and Lallana. Even Lovren is getting in on the act these days.
