There's never been a managerial appointment/change which didn't carry an element of risk, but I don't see any case at all for arguing that bringing Kenny back as caretaker "may very well" end in tears.

He hasn't managed a team in over a decade and his last 2 managerial appointments ended "in tears" (he ended up going to court with Celtic).
The thing his.. despite Roy being completely unsuitable for the job, I'm not convinced Dalglish would at this stage, do a better job.
We're not going to finish in the top 4.. let's be absolutely clear about that.... but equally we're not going to be relegated. Personally I'd be fucking delighted is we didn't make the Europa League next season (I've had my fill of watching us at 3am on a Monday morning).
Seriously... what's Dalglish going to do.... the last time he managed, his teams weren't renouned for attacking verve... so he4's not going to transform us in to a Barnes/Beardsley/Alderidgesque footballing wankfest.
What will happen if he's appointed is... we'll still be shite... and Dalglish will steer us to our lowest league position in fuck knows how long before being "kindly" relived of managerial duties at the end of the season.
I don't want that.

Sorry but that just doesn't add up, for a whole variety of reasons:
1. It's way previous to insist we definitely won't get top four given the topsy-turvy season everyone else is also having - ditto the rest of that stuff about "our lowest league position" etc;
2. Nobody's even begun to explain what difference it supposedly makes that the King hasn't managed a team for a long time - it might even be an advantage that he's been away from that pressure for so long, besides which he'd be coming in only as an interim appointment, which in itself would lift a lot of the pressure off his shoulders;
3. The whole club - damn it, the whole city - would get a major buzz from the appointment; and
4. He himself knows all the dangers but still reckoned he could do it, and there's not a snowflake in Hell's chance he'd have put his name forward if he weren't rock solid certain about that - who's going to take it on themselves to tell him he's wrong?
It's a far riskier choice to leave Roy in place than it ever would be to let Kenny mind the shop till next summer. Now that WILL end in tears.

We're not getting top 4 - despite the topsy-turvey nature of the season, the top 5 this season are the same top 5 last season. We're 9 points behind 4th with a game in hand & 3 points off the relegation zone with a game in hand. I'm as disappointed as you at how this season has turned out, but that's the way it is.
Has there ever been an occassion when a manager has come out of retirement after being out of the game for a decade and immediately made an impact? That's what doesn't add up, for all his successes in past he didn't exactly excel at Newcastle & Celtic. There's enough there to put a very large question mark over appointing him.
Roy's reign will rightly end in tears - he must go - but if we're not going to be able to appoint the man we want to take the club forward now then we should probably wait until we can apooint that person.
