Realistic targets?

Austin or Ings would be useful as bench option.. I get the low risk element either would be an improvement to some degree over Lambert..

But if we are going to be making noises with our neighbours we have to think bigger than the likes of Benteke, etc.. etc.. as our main options..

Name the big signings which you are a) will come to us b) can afford c) will be sensation. Both Torres and Suarez we got under £25m each

Song - He's 27, past it? Are you doing drugs?
Benteke has 1 season where he has injuries and he's injury prone?
Ings has scored goals in our division for a shit team, so I wouldn't call that unproven.

Song has hardly been ripping up trees for westham this season..

Benteke is a good player.. Personally I think he is overated and given how we have been stung with Sturridge this season injury wise, I think its a huge gamble.. Better Players out there..

Ings.. hasn't scored since february.. and is playing for a team that is about to be relegated.. if I was to choose between Austin and Ings as a useful bench option.. Charlie Austin.. he has more of a natural goalscoring ability about him..

its all Very Swansea... though id love to sign a player that had the impact of Michu in his first season..

Sadly though where is he now 🙁

That's precisely the argument that meant we ended up with Lambert and Balotelli last summer. I'd rather we didn't spend at all, then we wasted money on below quality players.

I actually mean that in a general sense, but it covers Austin and Ings, who both don't score enough at a lower level to show they could score a half decent amount at a higher level.

Song was marvellous in West Hams good run at the beginning of the season before fat head changed the formation and they got injuries, since then pretty much all of their squad has been dire. But, for a smallish fee, we'd have potentially a very good DM, with experience in our league and at the top level, and Barca don't very often buy absolute shite.

As for Benteke, I was just disputing the notion that he's injury prone. We have the pinnacle of benchmarks for being injury prone, currently sitting on his arse collecting 150k a week.

Maybe with Song.. but to go from Barcelona to West Ham.. there has to be a reason for that...

Thats my point with Benteke, i just think its too much of a gamble given the fee Villa will expect us to pay..

Of bigger concern, though, might be the shocking performance of Alex Song. A dip in energy levels or a slight slump in form could be forgiven, but Song is actually becoming a liability in midfield, constantly getting caught in possession and giving the ball away when not even under pressure.

Palace picked up on the problem quickly, pressurising the Cameroonian at every opportunity. Once in the second-half the home supporters bayed in horror as Song, barely moving in possession and looking around for a pass, was so easily dispossessed it looked like a competitive father nicking the ball from his young child over the park.

Daniel Carvajal/ Daryl Janmaat/ Fabinho
Geoffrey Kondogbia/ Johannes Geis
Felipe Anderson/ Nabil Fekir
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Sounds like a right fanny.. he will fit right in...

I think both Austin and Ings have scored more goals than our strikers?

That's not hard.

Ings has scored about 1 in 3 for a poor team, that's not a good sign.

Austin is 25, and has just had his first season at the top. He's about a 1 in 2 player. Which is decent, but for us to be signing someone from a team like that, it needs to be higher, to have any hope of them getting a decent return for us. I'm always wary of older players that have one good season, but nobody wanted before. Why has he got this far and not played for a better team? Chances are because he's not that good.

Isnt it a good sign that you score a decent amount of goals for a poor side? The quality of the players around you contributes to the amount of chances and the quality of the chances you get.

I'm not interested in signing Austin. He'll cost loads and doesnt suit us.
Ings on the other hand could be a good signing for a lowish fee.

No it doesn't. I play with crap players and score lots, it doesn't mean I'd score more with better players. Ings and Austin are the focus of their attacks, with us they never would be. At least they look to me like they would be squad players more than our first choice?

It's like Lambert, he scored a lot as he was the target man, once we moved to us, that was never going to be the case, so he struggled. There are way more examples of players that score less in top teams than what you are suggesting. Very few players score more in top teams.

Lacazette or Higuain...

Memphis

Milner

Morgan Schneiderlin or Khedria

Bench option Charlie Austin

Lacazette and Higuain probably want CL and would cost £30m plus
Memphis £25m
Milner Free
Morgan Schneiderlin £20m plus
Khedria free but probably wants CL

Our budget is probably £30m plus sales

We'll have to agree to disagree. Ings gets almost zero creative support from a very crap Burnley side. 1 in 3 in that side in his first season in the PL is a decent return.

Soton used Lambert in a way we havent as Macca said the other day. I'd look more at how a player would fit in rather than being the focus of their respective attacks.
Ings has great movement, work rate, pressing and the ability to work the channels as his strenghts. That fits our bill.
He's finishing is very good and he's only 22 with plenty of time to improve.

Austin is more of a target man and wont fit in with how we want to play.

£40 million is the rumour + sales..

I would sell Sterling to help fund it (if need be)... we have Ibe and Origi

Memphis would be his 'replacement' if you like...

all hypothetical of course..

Though our hand will probably be forced with Sterling.. he will probably go in the summer..

Wisdom and Flannagan will probably be your fullbacks..

What are we going to do with all the dead wood already out on loan?
Aspas,Luis Alberto,Coates, Ilori and Wisdom. It's not like any of them has stood out whilst out on loan. Most of them are only squad players for the shit teams we've loaned them to.

Fuck you are dim.
I give up.
And what's this absolute bollox that Benteke is injury prone?
He's had one bad injury in 6 years and he's injury prone now.

Leo in 'he thinks he is Ryan' shocker... Christ man give it a fucking rest, you are fucking hounding Red Ninja now and ruining every fucking thread there is. You boring cock!
