Heh. Err, aren't you just agreeing with me there?

I said his top pace wasn't all *that* bad, but his acceleration really lets him down.

As for Ryan Babel, I think you're wrong about his acceleration. There was this one run earlier this season (I think), which had everyone going "fucking hell, he's fast!" and oddly enough I thought of your posts in the past saying he has no acceleration.
If he's got such acceleration Ken why does that *one* instance of him running fast stand out in your mind?

As for the comment on Insua - maybe I mis read it but I got the impression you were suggesting that his speed isn't really all that bad once he get's going. I was simply pointing out that speed in football is really all about acceleration so his top speed "once he gets going" doesn't really come into it IMO.
Sami Hyypia managed to carve out a decent career for himself without having acceleration mate.

Heh, because he rarely plays and even when he does these days, he doesn't see much of the ball.

I was suggesting that, yeah. I agree that acceleration is hugely important, but we've seen tubby little Insua running alongside players for 20-30 yards after getting a running start quite a few times this season, so I wouldn't say "once he gets going" doesn't come into it.

Yeah, it's a good job Insua is a giant in the air with the most magnificent positional sense in the game.

Oh, wait...

Froggy asked me to post this.

Thought Agger's performance today has been greatly under-rated by some and Masher was utterly superb !

Reina - 8 - he is the man (between the sticks).
Insua - 6 - As I've said before he offers a lot more going forward than at the back and I can't see him as a long term prospect for out LB slot due to his chronic lack of pace.
Agger - 9 - a colossus at the back (and in midfield) today, especially so after Kyrgiakos was unluckily red carded.
Kyrgiakos - 8 - up until he was sent off he was having a great game. Although we went down to 10 men he actually removed by far their biggest threat from the match !
Carra - 8 - had a much better at CB than he was having at RB, surprise surprise.
Masherano - 10 - MoM. no superlative does that performance justice. Was just as effective at RB as he was a DM. Brilliant.
Lucas - 7- Did an unheralded job against the odds in MF. Two stupendous blocks at near the end probably stopped them from equalising (I think you would agree with all that Brendan) ?
Gerrard - 9 - great performance all over the pitch. Sooo unlucky not to score and for once he delivered superb corner after superb corner, that we didn't do justice to. This is the real Stevie G.
Kuyt - 8 - despite a little of the usual brick wall stuff he still put in a great shift, did really well for his goal and also did a sterling job covering Masher at RB.
Maxi - 6 - no doubt he is a quality player, some beautiful passes and silky touches - however this was a PL derby match that came too early for him.
N'Gog - 7 - nice job holding the ball up front but I stick with the opinion that he doesn't have what it takes to make it as a first class striker. An egg-timer is quicker than N'Gog preparing himself to shoot.
Babel - 6 - Ho Hum. Sell.
Skrtel - impressive 90 seconds.

Rafa - 9 - playing for 60 mins, & winning, with 10 men in a Liverpool derby match IS impressive.

MoM
1. Masher
2. Agger
3. Gerrard

Yes, because Sami Hyypia wasn't that quick, it seems logical to assume that because Insua is also not that quick, he will go on to become a fantastic player for Liverpool.

Beeing one of Aggers biggest fans I must admit I was extremely pleased with his performance in particular. It's been a while since he's looked this good.

At around the 5 minute mark it was clear to see that he has now fully recovered from his back-troubles as he threw himself recklessly across the penalty-area to clear a potential dangerous ball with his head. No-one with severe back-aches would do that to themselves not even Agger.

He was commanding throughout and rarely sat a foot wrong.

Having said that I thought they all were immense showing tremendous charachter throughout.

Great win.

Then why don't you understand anything?
You seem to be a native English speaker (if not always in control of your cognitive abilities)

All he said was that you don't necessarily need acceleration to be successful, cf. Hyypia

Then another poster said, that's because Hyypia has other qualities which Insua lacks.

No one suggested that just because Insua is also not that quick, he will be as successful as Hyypia.

You are just building up a straw man argument then tearing it down to look clever, which you clearly aren't.

You're just good at making up nicknames for people who intellectually shit on you.

Oh dear craparo

Here's what Ryan said:

"Sami Hyypia managed to carve out a decent career for himself without having acceleration mate".

In direct response to a comment about Insua and acceleration. Implication being, Insua could still have a decent career without it.

Bunnyman responded thus:

"Yeah, it's a good job Insua is a giant in the air with the most magnificent positional sense in the game."

Here we have sarcasm. Hyypia had both great prowess in the air, and also positional sense. Bunny is using sarcasm to communicate that he is of the opinion Insua has neither.

I then responded with this post, picking up on where Bunny had left off:

"Yes, because Sami Hyypia wasn't that quick, it seems logical to assume that because Insua is also not that quick, he will go on to become a fantastic player for Liverpool."

More sarcasm, but related by the original post, where it seemed somewhat pointless to bring up Hyypia in relation to Insua, if all they actually had in common was a lack of pace/ acceleration.

Happy now craparo?
All clear?

Great, now I suggest you go and fucking bother someone else.

You're clearly going down the wrong path if you think I'm being critical of Sami in any way. I didn't make any comment about speed (acceleration) being an imperative to play football but with Insua it is going to limit him in a big way. As Bunny has already quite pointedly spotted, Sami was the embodiment of being able to read the play and positional sense while Insua, well............. isn't.

I might also suggest, as Carra has demonstrated in his last few outings, pace is a little more necessary when playing fullback as opposed to taking up a position at CB.

Except that's clearly very different from what you originally said when you said

"Yes, because Sami Hyypia wasn't that quick, it seems logical to assume that because Insua is also not that quick, he will go on to become a fantastic player for Liverpool."

The sarcasm in that post was clearly meant to ridicule the original post by suggesting that the OP had suggested that position [A] led ---> position

All he said was that position [A] meant that position wasn't necessarily untrue.

Of course when you're pulled up for shitty logic you claim all you were trying to do was say that position [A] is irrelevant to position , which is true, but that's not what you were originally trying to do.

Harry Hill. He host's Harry Hill's TV Burp and does a bit of stand up.
He is quite a famous british comedian, I'm surprised you don't know him.
Unless I'm being whooshed here.
