There's been rumors for indeed a couple of months that we could be after this guy. A good number of assists, can play on the left as well as the right, and fits the age profile of FSG (24).

Has anyone been watching him enough to make a judged assessment? For 30m€ he may be a shrewd signing

If he's the guy then we have:

Mane/Jota/Raph - Bobby/Mo - Mo/Raph

Does that make him the addition to the front line to put pressure on Bobby?

I think he's been excellent for Leeds, although still not seen how he copes against a low block versus teams who play open football and leave gaps / space. Would love to see him join the ranks though, proper baller.

Looks good, but again a more lateral forward.

Which of ours could go centrally and cover for Firm?

Easy. Jota - he's done it to great effect already and is every bit as good there as he is out wide. FAR better in that position than Mo too.

I can't think of any reason Leeds would sell him to us for 30m.

Unless I'm missing something?

I don't think we're in for him. From whatever the likes of Pearce have been saying, we want to replace Origi and get genuine competition in for Firmino this year. That seems to me we'll be after a central striker rather than a wide forward.

But not nearly as good as Firmino as I see it.
Jota's ball retention and playmaking not sufficiently good for the role.

He plays the role differently, closer to a more traditional central striker. It's true that he doesn't play others in around him like Bobby does (when Bobby's on form anyway) but he gets more goals and gives the opposition a different kind of threat to worry about.

Yes, agreed. It would entail a tweak. Could well work better.

he is going no where, Kieta and Ox where supposed to be that box-box MF we so need through the middle, both due to injuries have been huge failures. I think its right we cut our losses off load them two and get a box-to-box MF and an AM

Exactly. We need a Giroud type player if we are gonna spend another season lamping in looping crosses into the box.

They bought him for £15m in January - very quick flip to double their money. But agreed, it feels low.

Hes a good player but as people have already said, probably not the type of forward we need. If we were talking about an upgrade on Shaq/Minamino etc then he'd be great, but we have more pressing concerns, so I don't see him as a priority signing.

Not unless there is going to be a switch in formation from the false 9 with 2 wide forwards to playmaking advanced midfielder supporting the attack from a deeper position.

I mean, I'm sure we are inquiring after this guy. But our transfer strategy has clearly become to sound out deals for all the players we think meet our criteria and then to play them all off each other to get what we find to be the best deal. Liverpool is currently a successful footballing business. Until its official its all smokescreens to me.
