What a sorry mess, gotta feel for the fans. Looks like no SPL for them next season.. There is even talk of them having to re-enter in the third Division now

Rumours are also abound.. that they could very well be trying to enter the English Pyramid at some level..

Its believed Green is trying to exhaust all avenues up in Scotland that is available to him.. His Investors seek the big pot of gold that is English football, hence why they are stalling over applying to become a member of the SFA..

Does that mean their players will be allowed to join other clubs for free? Wouldn't be opposed to signing Steven Davis if that's the case. Rodgers adding to the Norn Iron contingent.

celtic should just break away and form a 2 team league with them , they can play each other 38 times a yr and everyone is happy .

The obvious answer for them into enter the English league, the 'borders' between Scotland Wales NI & England mean fuck all as the anomalies of various clubs already show. Much to Uefa's displeasure.

I did suggest this would be their strategy a couple of weeks back.

I hope Rangers and Celtic are never allowed to join the English league personally. You just know that a few multi billionaires would soon start to show an interest.

True. Both clubs have massive fan bases and the pound signs would be flashing up above their heads.

They'd soon be fighting it out for the title/CL places if we allowed them to join mate. I quite like both clubs, i just don't fancy having two more strong rivals.

I doubt it.

I would like to see all the Irish scrotes who support Celtic and a Premiership side forced to decide which one they actually support

Depends on who's winning! There's a utd supporters bar in west Belfast that has the Irish for the red devils painted on the wall on the outside. That really puzzles me, what are they trying to say? That we support an English side but don't worry we're still good Republicans?

Ha! It does seem a tad hypocritical.

Even better is the good Irish Republican property developer and former IRA volunteer who built an apartment complex of fire traps, who evaded Irish bankruptcy laws on the grounds that he's British.

Who's this?

I haven't been following this.

Why don't the other SPL clubs want them back in?

Because they are cheating bastards who don't pay tax.

I say good riddance and strip them of all the cups they won whilst cheating the tax man.
I really hope they don't join the English league system in any shape or form.

Tom McFeely

I just read a few stories about him. Sounds like a complete shit. Complains about his human rights being breached but is perfectly happy to build apartment blocks that are so dangerous that people have to move out of them.

I'd be for Celtic joining the Premier League.

I'd also like to see a merger with the SPL and the League of Ireland.

Yeah, cos thats practical.

Firstly, rangers or celtic would have to start very low & gain promotion, otherwise two championship teams would be shafted unfairly (nb, if this included forest id not be arsed).
Secondly, Ireland & Scotland leagues merging? Why not merge Portsmouth, Norwich, Southampton & Ipswich with French league whilst you're at it?

Let them die out, or stay somewhere where sectarian hatred based on an ancient Abrahamic superstition is acceptable behaviour. I, for one, don't want there flute playing, flag-waving and hate-mongering anywhere near English football. I give as much thought to Scottish football as I do to Danish, Norwegian or Polish. i.e. none whatsoever.

If Rangers or indeed Rangers and Celtic joined the English league system they should be forced to start at the bottom. I mean right at the bottom of the pyramid and not League 2 just like any new 11 a side team.

Why should Conference side who are about to be promoted be denied that because a team from another country wants to muscle their way into the English Football League system?

I've never liked Rangers, but their fans and players have done nothing wrong and they're the ones who are being punished by this.

They did smash up Manchester City centre and acted like complete and utter scumbags once...on second thoughts...

But yeah, the players and more importantly the general staff at the club will be hit hard were they to go belly up. Hard to feel sorry for a player who has been raking in 4 or 5 grand a week for the past few years because basically they will find another club in Scotland or otherwise.

It is what they are angling for mark my words.. Whilst Rangers newco are a member of the SFA.. The FA will not entertain the idea.. However as they are currently not a member of any FA they have a right to apply.. The FA can then very well entertain the idea..

Green is holding out for this, he has to be seen to exhaust all avenues with the SFA, to save face.. The attraction of English football is what his investors want..

They are banned from Europe for three years, so I don't think it matters to them now where in the English pyramid they will start.. If it's non league.. then so be it, they will fly up the pyramid in no time at all..

Start in the SFL third Division or start in the English non League.. its an absolute no brainer..

Scottish football will end up with egg on their faces..

So they start low. Big deal. It's the price to pay for entering a better, and more competitive league.

And the merger thing was only meant to be tongue in cheek, but there are just as many reasons for it to work as there are for it not to. I mean both sets of teams are on par with each other (I'd imagine). Maybe the Irish wouldn't be quite up to the standard of the SPL, but they certainly would be a match for the lower divisions. The interest in Irish soccer is very low, and something like this might jump start them again. But yeah, not really a serious runner, but just thought I'd throw it out there.
