The title maybe should of said "Rafa willing" as I bet it will be one of his serious considerations.

Has he had some advice from the new medical team about Torres future problems?

I cant believe RBS would have given Dumb and Dumber a six month loan extension unless there was some movements on selling the club. So it cant be all bollocks

the squad is paper thing several positions need servicing and we enjoy the brilliance of torres for about a season, if a significant amount of money (and I'm talking a minimum of 70m) then I'd sell torres, which is a shame because I think he is the best striker I've ever seen.

Unfortunately I think youre right.

Although Benitez has put together a great spine of a team (because im sure benitez admirers will argue til blue in the face that he's not all bad in the transfer market) Thats all he has! He hasnt got a championship quality team! Selling two of the pivotal players within that spine would be imo, ludacris. Including selling Alonso last summer that would be 3 players sold out of the 'benitez spine'. 6 years to build what he has now minus gerrard and torres is pathetic. Im sorry but if we got 100 mil for Torres and Gerrard id prefer to see the first 20 million spent on sacking Rafa because in reality he'd probably waste more of the cash than Stevie and Nando are worth to liverpool!

Rouge, no squad that contains Torres, Gerrard, Carra, Reina, Mascher, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Aquilani, Maxi, Kuyt and Benayoun can be described as awful, it may not be a deep squad and Rafa doesn't know how to get the best out of it but it's certainly not awful.

Even if we do sell Torres for some astronomical figure, we'll still be competing with City, Chelsea and Madrid for players to replace his quality.

People say: 'Oh here's how we can spend £80M' like it's a walk in the park. But it never works out like that. Signing a player - in our case especially - is a long, drawn out, complicated mess.

and of course once every fecker knows we have £80 million and need to replace a 20 goal a year man every one will be more expensive. zamora=£30 million kind of shite.

Liverpool rubbish Torres Chelsea rumours
May 5 2010 by Dominic King, Liverpool Echo
Add a commentRecommend (5) His current contract runs until 2014 and Liverpool have absolutely no desire to offload a player who is idolised on The Kop.

Torres is currently working his way back to fitness following knee surgery last month and is channelling all his efforts into being ready for the World Cup.

However, it will be touch and go if he is ready for Spain’s opening game against Switzerland on June 16

Peter Brukner, Liverpool’s new Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science, said: “He’s doing well.

“He’s certainly tremendously committed to his rehab, as are the staff here.

“Whether he’ll be fit for the first game or not is uncertain. We’re anxious not to hurry him along too much because we want the long-term benefit. But we are aware he’s got the short-term goal of playing in the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Juventus are poised to further ratchet up their pursuit of Rafa Benitez as speculation around the Liverpool’s manager position intensified.

Though Benitez’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon insisted yesterday that he wants to stay at Anfield, the situation is not so clear cut as the Spaniard believes key promises have been broken.

He is due to meet Martin Broughton for talks about his and Liverpool’s future but it emerged yesterday that Benitez had cancelled two meeting with the new chairman in the past fortnight.

Liverpool are refusing to comment on the matter, while Benitez was out of reach on a scheduled day off yesterday and was not due back at Melwood until this afternoon to take training.

Benitez wants assurances from Broughton that any funds raised from player sales during the summer will go straight back into his transfer kitty and not into servicing the club’s current suffocating debt.

If that guarantee is not given when they meet – an exact date has yet to be arranged – then it is increasingly likely Benitez’s six-year reign will come to an end.

If we were to sell Torres, i'd want him to fund half a fucking stadium.

we're selling torres for 150m?

That's what i'd accept.

Maybe £100M actually. He's better than Kaka, so his price should reflect it.

I don't see any problem selling our best players. We won the league this year with plenty to spare. Even if selling them causes us to lose 20 points next season, we should still win the league again comfortably.
