Got them all!

As is always the case with these kind of things I ended up struggling with a couple that, in hindsight, were really quite obvious.

Well impressed you got the guy who scored 6 in 83/84.

very impressed.

I've also just realised that this is probably in the wrong thread.

Mods can you move it to FF if you can be arsed?

I didn't really look at the years at first, I just typed in as many names of all vaguely players from the 80s as I could think of!

The one you mention I did get, but only because I know that he scored a hat trick at one point.

Got them all.

It's not that hard really, you just arbitrarily write name of former Liverpool players.

I also got him for the hat-trick... But John Wark... I fucking forgot he ever existed!!! Nice return one season!

Johnny Wark was another in the fairly long line of Liverpool players signed after causing us trouble playing for someone else, in his case Ipswich, who were a decent side in those days.

A good few years after he left us and was playing for Ipswich again, this time at CB, I saw them play Forest at the City Ground. Ipswich were a goal ahead and time was running out, so Forest were throwing everything at them. Stuart Pearce got the ball and came bombing down the left wing. As he got near the Ipswich area, Wark sauntered out to meet him like he was on a Sunday afternoon stroll. There was an almighty collision, Pearce went @rse over tip into the nearest advertising hoarding and Wark just turned round and ambled back to his position in the middle as if nothing had happened. 8)

Haha. He went on for years if I remember rightly.

Did that kind of scouting technique ever work very well? The worst example I remember of it was when Graeme Souness explained his signing of Istvan Kozma by saying that he bought him because he remembered him playing well against Rangers when Souness was in Scotland

Bit hit and miss, to be honest.

Though Souness wsa himself brought in for that very reason; playing brilliantly against us whilst at Boro.

Shanks signed a lad called Alun Evans after he'd played well against us for Wolves. I hadn't particularly rated him before, but he played well in a few games for us too before getting involved in (I think) a nightclub incident. His career subsequently took a permanent nosedive.

The big "might have been" in this respect was Paul Walsh, whom we signed after he shone against us more than once for Luton of all people. In his first half-season he was really good, a particular credit to him considering he was the King's replacement. He then got quite a bad injury somewhere around New Year and, though he did come back after it, was never the same player again, whether for us or for anybody else afterwards.

And another....

I got 104/110
Only a couple of tricky ones there but still easy enough.

Which ones did you struggle with?
Terry Mac, despite the fact that i'd got him in the previous quiz, Hodgson and fucking Gary Gillespie!!

102 out of 110
Same here.

Forgot - Venison, MacDonald, Burrows
Struggled with Hooper (insisted on Harper) and Hysen (insisted on wrong spelling)

i got them all. walsh and rosenthal took some real concentration and dredging the memory banks (of books i've read, not proper memories, obv) of the 86 and 90 seasons, they were the last ones i got.

I admire anyone who did so well. Me, I'm mustard at general knowledge quizzes (keep trying to find a group of people who'll join me in taking on the Eggheads) but hopeless at this sort of thing.

i hope you agree with me, then, that Chris deserves respect as the rarest and most spectacular of all living eggheads.

such plumage!

My mum's always been a fan too, and I've started watching it on and off. The rollover prize can get quite big at times - highest ever was £75,000 apparently.

Incidentally I wouldn't bother clonking CJ. He'd probably love every minute of it.

I'd go on Eggheads, but I am only good on certain topics.

Its a problem I have whenever I play Trivial Pursuit - doesn't matter how many History, Sport or Entertainment questions I answer, I will always end up having to answer a Science and Nature one in the end.

Is that smug cunt CJ still on Eggheads?

Is he the one who really looks like an egghead?

Bald head with a fringe at the bottom?

I'm terrible with their names
