Blatter bleating on again about moving the world cup to winter

Thoughts?

I think it's fucking ridiculous and whoever decided Qatar was a viable place in the summer for an international sports tournament was a dick

Whoever decided Qatar was a viable place in the summer for an international sports tournament is probably a richer dick now.

Well, the latest comments from Blatter are a it shocking. They knew it would be to hot to play during summer but gave it to Qatar anyway. Australia must surley use this for all its worth, you'd think they have a case.

Cant imagine that it will be accepted to play during winter among the leagues and clubs.

Big brown envelopes decide where the world cup goes.
They're gonna have to move it to the 'winter' else it's going to kill everyone playing in the summer. That or all games will have to be under stadiums with roofs and the aircon on full blast.

It's like arranging for kosher caterers to organise a pig farmers' dinner and dance, and then suggesting that maybe the pig farmers would like to become vegetarians. In other words, absolutely mental.

Maybe I could get the world cup in my bag garden if I do a swish marketing video

If you even begin to look under the surface of FIFA it's pretty obvious corruption is endemic.

There's stuff going on about Warner and havelange at the moment and there's enough dirt to muddy the Atlantic.

You only have to look at the fact that the 2014 World Cup has an official champagne to know that FIFA don't have their focus on the football

FIFA and UEFA have lost an appeal against the decision that stated World Cup and European Championship games should be free to air.

If the clubs are powerfull enough can they make enough of a noise to say no to moving league fixtures to the summer or I assume maybe they will just have a winter break of 6 weeks and extens the season in the summer by 3 weeks?

Fucking cheeky cunts.
Regarding Quatar. Its fucking retarded.
Ive said before World cups should be held in:
England
Spain
Italy
Germany
France
Mexico
Brazil
Argentina
Portugal
and
Netherlands

No other country should get to host one.

It should be held somewhere that doesnt fuck with the time difference (mine) when watching games.

Why? Wasn' the world cup in Japan and South Korea ok? South Africa was fine as a host too, as was Yankeeland. The world's biggest game's biggest international tournament shouldn't be stuck on 2.5 continents.
No. They were all shit atmosphereless corporate wankfests.
And yes it should being as 99.9% of all the greatest footballers in history and 99.99% of all the best teams in history come from them.

He only needs a white cat on his lap and he'll be the perfect Bond villain.

The Premier League have rejected FIFA proposals to move the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to the winter as they are "neither workable nor desirable".

FIFA president Sepp Blatter on Wednesday confronted the issue of playing in the searing June heat of Qatar by stating he believed it could not take place in the summer, and that position has been backed up by the international players' union FIFPro.

The world governing body said the issue will go to FIFA's executive committee meeting on October 3 and 4.

The Premier League has long opposed any such move on the grounds it will cause major disruption to three domestic seasons - the 2021-22 season and the ones either side - as well as impacting on broadcasting contracts.

A Premier League spokesman said: "The Premier League position remains unchanged. The prospect of a winter World Cup is neither workable nor desirable for European domestic football."

FIFA's executive committee will meet in Zurich for a decision on the issue.

The heat in Qatar was always known as an issue but in 2010 the executive committee voted overwhelmingly to give the country the 2022 tournament.

That decision came despite FIFA's inspectors giving Qatar a "high risk" rating - the only bidding country to receive that category - and to warn the heat was "a potential health risk for players, officials, the FIFA family and spectators".

Blatter has been moving towards the idea of a winter World Cup for several months. He said yesterday: "If this World Cup is to become a party for the people, you can't play football in the summer. You can cool down the stadiums, but you can't cool down the whole country."

FIFPro's general secretary Theo van Seggelen insisted that playing in Qatar in the summer heat is not an option on medical grounds but questioned why FIFA had chosen to go there.

He said on Twitter: "Playing football in the summer is not an option, not for players nor for the fans.

"How is it possible that, when choosing Qatar, no one has suggested this problem? Not even UEFA."

In fact, UEFA has led the calls for a move to the winter with its president Michel Platini the first senior football figure to do so, and Blatter now also looks to be on board.

A FIFA spokesman said: "As mentioned by the FIFA President yesterday, he will bring forward the matter of playing the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in winter to the FIFA executive committee on the occasion of their next meeting scheduled for October 3 and 4, 2013.

"This matter will now be with the executive committee and we can therefore not comment further before the meeting has taken place."

the atmosphere in South Korea/Japan was phenomenal. I don't know how many people have watched games in Africa before the World Cup in 2010, but I guess it's a difference in how fans approach the sport. I can understand, though I don't agree. Uruguay produced 3 world cup champions I think - why can't they have it too then? Hungary?

Because they dont have the stadiums or the infrastructure.
Japan and Korea was ok.

The one country thing I like - but I actually liked the belgium/holland split and I loved 2002 (though SA were shit, and Italy were robbed by a fucking cunt of a ref - it was NOT a dive!).

I guess for infrastructure and saving countries the unnecessary expenses, your list is fair (though I would add Poland/Ukraine - great Euro imo & the US - incredible stadiums and their fans, with time, are improving big time).

FIFA and UEFA have lost an appeal against the decision that stated World Cup and European Championship games should be free to air.

UEFA said today’s decision “not only distorts competition in a free market, but also reduces the possibility to generate income that can then be distributed to the amateur game via solidarity payments.”

Yes... I'm sure that's where the money would've gone. Cunts.

England will never be able to host the World Cup after the cheating and ref bribing of 66.
