Purslow radio interview

Not open for further replies.
They said 08.30 but it seems that Purslow isn't going to be on until some time after 9.00 BST.

I don't much like the presenter Garry Richardson, the BBC's cheeky chappie. :🙂

Very interesting. I quite like Purslow. It is pretty clear he didn't like Rafa, as some of the positives pertaining to hodgson where subtly referencing Rafa, even though his name wasn't mentioned. For instance, when discussing if any new players would be coming in he said it was 'refreshing' that Hodgson insists on seeing targets in the flesh, scouting them in person. Ouch Rafa.

On the sales side, it is clear there is a bit to go yet. And I completely trust this team, Broughton, Ayres and Purslow to deliver the best buyers for LFC. Insistent that the priority was getting a buyer who would invest in the club, and that it wouldn't end up in its current sorry state.

They have 'written' bids now, no proof of funds yet. Wouldn't be drawn in who was bidding and evasive on timeline 'not tomorrow, but not a lifetime'. That said, he said there were two priorities- getting the right buyer, and getting it done relatively quickly. I think we're weeks away.

It was on the radio man. I didn't transcribe the whole thing.

Main points- nicked from another site:

Torres not close to leaving really. Clubs expressed an interest in many players

Gerrard not close to leaving either, could have left many times but never been close

Feedback he gets and from seeing players there is a 'really good mood' around the squad

5 managers were interviewed wouldn't say who - Hodgson number 1 choice after detailed process including peer reviews etc

6-8 weeks after the appointment and things very positive about Hodgson

1 or 2 ins and outs. Won't speculate on who is coming in but Hodgson will only buy players he has seen for himself, been on 3 scouting missions this week alone

No offers for Mascherano - hope that he stays a Liverpool player

*Sale*
Number of bids, wouldn't comment on specifics, very frustrated that prospective owners going to media and not the board
Want a long term financial stable commitment from new owners
Will categorically not sell if owners are not right
No favourite up to now
Written bids HAVE been received
Nobody has proved they have funds yet
Wouldn't comment on Sunday Times report. Excellent relationship with RBS though and the story seems speculative
Doesn't think RBS will jump in as administrators
Couldn't give a date for takeover - broadly where they hope to be and now need to sort the 'wheat from chaff'

Primary target is improvement on last season. Champions League (top 4 finish) is a target

Yes, Pursssslow will be remembered long after Benitez has been forgotten

He's a Liverpool legend, the snidey fucking cunt

Thanx Doc. I like the positive noises coming out of the club and the Boards handling of club affairs.

So much for all the conspiracy theories. Let's hope for a quick resolution.

What's Purslow not being remembered got to do with anything? In fact who gives a fuck apart from the loony conspiracy theorists?

Brendan, you need to realise that whilst Purslow had problems with Rafa, it doesn't mean he hasn't the best interests of LFC at heart.

Of course he won't be remembered, but I'm glad he's involved in overseeing the sale of our club. And it is clear that the loony conspiracy theories that you (and Rebel) subscribed to concerning Purslow were utter bollocks.

He came across quite well.

Basically said Mascher's our player & training with the team well as a professional would & no offers in yet, but that he definitely wants to leave so wont rule out him leaving should we get a bid we accept.

Also said we will get more players in but Roy has a rule he'll only sign players he has both met & 'seen' (I presume that meant play or train?) so he has more players to run the rule over.

Regards the bids etc he just confirmed what we knew, bids on the table, written bids, wouldnt say how many but more than one, & financial backing hasnt been checked on those bids yet.

Well the fact that he & the rest of the board voted against the Yanks refinancing against the club again only a few weeks ago means it clearly is a load of bollocks. Same applies for Broughton.

If anything Broughton & Purslow are simply RBS stooges, but then RBS have to a reason to support our long term future & have a media presence to worry about as they're Government owned, so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

you can tell purslow wrote the friday night press release, an absolute master of not actually revealing anything. why bother doing an interview at all?

He talked quite freely about everything except the bid situation. He is not allowed by Stock Exchange rules to talk about that until a deal has been done.

I seem to remember him saying that he was disappointed that more bids had not been received.

There is also the possibility that rather than sacking Rafa to sell of all our best players, part of the rationale for our best players staying was Rafa's exit.

But LFC is not public listed Portly. Maybe RBS being listed prevents information being discussed?

I got nothing against Purslow but I hope he doesn't make a habit of getting interviewed, like Ridsdale or Bates or whatever.

You are right as always Y1. However the bidding process will be subject to regulation of some kind, if not the Stock Exchange "Yellow Book" there are no doubt secrecy clauses written into the agreement regulating the sale of the club between RBS, the owners and the board of LFC.

Nah mate, can't claim to be right as always, nor most of the time 🙂

Only a few here can claim that rightly or wrongly 😉

You may be right with BarCap, RBS involved, sale negotiations must be done in the strictest confidentiality. Whoever Bamba is, there is no way he/she can know what is going on unless those in the BOD fed him. Could be the owners or bidders themselves or one of administrative team fed him/her with the process but not necessary the facts.

If the facts were leaked, they could easily trace who broke the confidentiality.

Kenny Huang recently mentioned confidentiality clauses governing the bidding and sale process so I would imagine it goes both ways.

Oh wait! NONE of that happened did it

Seen the giant banner thats been paid for by RAWK to be reveiled on the kop today, thats a good idea lads target the 2 men that are actually on the side of getting the Americans out. What Broughton or Purslow to some extent have done to deserve this I don't know. They are fucking mentals on RAWK

Fourhorsemen.jpg

Hopefully it gets took off them.

This is the thing - when you ask SOS about this kind of crap they say it's nothing to do with them, but all the nobheads on RAWK saying what a great idea it is have got them little SOS logos. It's all gone Sinn Fein and IRA!

Nobheads. Really fucking counterproductive fools.

Yes- they're fucking twats.

Why call Broughton a liar? He's only doing what he can to flog the club and bring his experience to it. It's just childish and stupid. They're giving him every excuse to leave if he gets slightly pissed off for whatever reason, and then we'd be in a whole new world of shit.
