Lucas the best player in the world

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed Lucas has suffered a unique quad injury that will keep him sidelined for six weeks.

Lucas, 29, has been one of the best performers under Klopp and was arguably Liverpool’s best player in their Capital One Cup final defeat to Manchester City despite playing in an unfamiliar centre-back position.

And it has now been revealed that the combative midfielder will miss the next six weeks after sustaining an unusual quad injury taking a penalty in their cup final defeat.

“Lucas is really unfortunate, a little bit more serious [than first thought],” Klopp is quoted as saying by Football365.com. “I’ve never heard about an injury you can get like this.

“I don’t know exactly, but five or six weeks [out]. It’s not too good.”

Since the start of the season, no player to have made at least 15 league appearances has required fewer minutes per successful tackle than Lucas (16.7 mins).

We're so lucky to have a player who is so close to perfection in every aspect of his game playing for us.

Not one area of weakness at all. Incredible.

It's amazing that we've managed to keep hold him all these years. It's rare that a player so almost entirely perfect hasn't ended up at a club like Barcelona, Bayern or Madrid.

Still, it's a sign of his loyalty and we should be very grateful. Players like Lucas don't come around very often and we are very lucky to have enjoyed his faultless style of football for nearly 10 glory- filled years.

I'm not sure how we will get on without him for the next 6 weeks, really. I suppose Can, Henderson or Milner will have to step up in midfield, and luckily in central defence we have Skrtel back.

Its amazing that we've managed to fight off interest from clubs like Stoke, Palermo and Galatasaray.
They've been unluckyeeeeee

Ah come on, you fellas. The reason other clubs haven't come in for him is that they know we'd charge £80 mill.minimum.

I really don't think that's it. IMO most people's view of him is pretty balanced and the hate is for the posts from the handful of Lucas ultras on here, rather than for the player himself. They really don't do him any favours.

Typical Lucas, shows sign of form, gets injured.

It will be about another year before we see him reach the levels of the last few games

Oh well at least we will see the Uprising of Joe Allen, and informative posts from Ryan telling telling us how good and underestimated he is

Good...our chances of winning in this 6 weeks goes up significantly

I'm afraid you are overestimating the maths my friend.

The club historically had say an 80% chance of winning. Lucas caused a 50% drop, in other words our chance of winning in the last decade has been 40%.

One does not simply remove Lucas and go back to 80%. The volatility in our win rate will at best only go up by 50%, which takes us to 40 + 20 = 60%. We're starting from a lower base now you see. To get back to where we were before Lucas, we'd need a player capable of making a 100% difference to our win rate.

It is not only Lucas they "hate". They moan and moan and then moan a little bit more and to be very sure that no one miss all the moaning they moan a bit more. I don't think they ever heard about supporting the players and the club.

Lucas is one of the best if not the best tackler in the league but the moaners still want us to replace him with someone that can tackle, a more physical player. That is the big joke.

He has been one of the most physical players in the PL for years. One of the best tacklers in the PL for years. He is a 100% team player.

He isn't perfect but in our own half you will struggle to find a better player. In the attacking half he is bad but he is a defensive player. He will struggle in the air, yeah right. He has been very good in the air.

Lucas is our best defensive player by some distance.

It is a clear cut red card by the way and not on Lucas. You may find the clip funny. I don't because the ref did't do his job.

It isn't a dive by Lucas, sorry to say that. He is off balance and got a hand to the face. You probably laughed at Lucas at that time and still do. No one would miss you if you started to support Man U. You would fit right in there because they would get yet another fan that moan, moan, moan.

100% this.

When you see this clip then you see one of our players, in this case Lucas, doing a very good job. He irritated a player so much that the player should have been sent off. So thank you for posting it. A clip on a good job done by Lucas.

Moaning, when justified is allowed Arn. A lot of the posters on here have supported Liverpool through thick and thin for years, some have been doing it for decades. Of course they can vent their frustrations on a fan forum they've frequented since its inception.

You keep missing one crucial point though!! A lot of the Lucas gags are in jokes and posters taking the piss. He has plenty of fans on here. Your constant crusade to defend Lucas is prompting people to poke fun, well, because it's the Internet and people poke fun on it. Perhaps focus your attention on another player who isn't feeling the love? It surely can't be just about Lucas with you? People moan about Mingolet the whole time. Dust off that cape Arn and go get 'em.

I still defend Mignolet and I have had a go at the Mignolet moaners. No one know how good Mignolet can be with a better coach than Achterberg. Every keeper he coached have ended up doing the same mistakes.

I understand if we sign a new number one keeper but at the same time I wouldn't understand if we did that without replacing Achterberg. The last very good keeper we had was Reina and he was coached by a top class goalkeeper coach almost all the time here. Before him we must go all the way back to Clemence to find a top class keeper. Brucie was a very good keeper but not top class.

One excellent keeper in the last 30+ years. Then the question is why?
