PREDICTION LEAGUE - NON PREDICTORS??

Two options as to what happens for non predictors. Vote for the one you want:

Option one

There will be a new predictor. I work with Mr Albert. I’m going to ask his predictions for each round of fixtures and anyone who doesn’t predict will be given Mr Alberts predictions for that round of fixtures.Please bear in mind that Mr Albert is 65 and going a bit senile. But anyway, I’ll get his predictions and post them up, just before the weekend (or weeks) fixtures.

Option two

If you don’t predict, you will be giver your previous weeks predictions for that particular team. For example, in week one, you predict Everton 2-1 Arsenal. Then the following week you forget to predict, you will given two goals for Everton (whoever they are playing) and one goal for Arsenal (whoever they are playing.

Its either one of these, so get voting. Most votes will be used come Saturdays kick off.

I'll only get about 3-4 people not predicting each week, so it wont be too difficult.

Albert's predictions so his opponent has something to beat but if the non-predictor wins he stills gets NUL Point ! Why shoud he have a chance of winning points when he / she didn't predict ? That's beyond me !

Either that or you get a standard set of predictions - all of the matches as 0-0 draws. It would probably net you a few points each week, but not enough to beat anyone with a half-decent score.

I still don't get it. If you don't turn up for ANYTHING in life you have no chance of winning / getting anything from it. How can a no-show still have a chance if winning ?

Proof of the pudding - how man times last season did we see people rushing in to post at the last moment ? Or even after the Saturday ? A LOT !

If they have predictions made for them then I predict Pete will have a lot more work on his hands than his prediction of having to predict for 3 or 4 missing non-predictors using Albert's predictions. Non-predictors should not be made into predictors by predictions from Albert ! So there.

1. Either option 1 or 2 (or any other sensible) prediction play against your opponent's prediction.
2. You get 0 points for a week you failed to predict.
3. 2 unjustified failures to predict and you're out.

Assuming the predictor league is a competitive interest I'd say option 2 is a no brainer. Anyone unable to turn up for a mtach should be severly disadvantaged.

I voted for number one because it seems less work for you Pete.
To be honest with Pete, you don't have to do this and take it on your back to organise it and fair play to you for that.

If people on here can't respect that and stop predicting, just kick them out of the league. I'd make two weeks in a row. No exceptions.

Your and Mr_V's work is highly appreciated Pete.

The issue here is the impact the non-predictors have on the results of us predictors. you have to be roothless with the non-predictors and bin them quickly, while having the smallest impact on the results of the rest.

I don't mind which method you use to give the non predictor a base score for the other player to beat, but I think that the non predictor should get 0 points whatever the result, that way you don't automatically get 3 points for playing a non predictor.

Last season the non predictor did automatically get zero points mate, meaning it was pretty much a guaranteed 3 points for the opposition.

Thats what im trying to cut out.

Thats sounds like the perfect solution to me. Also takes away the temptation for successful predictors like me to use Mr Alberts prediction and hope for the three points 😉
