Pre-Season Game 6: AC Milan

Man, Origi is on fire. I think even Brendan will convert into a fan if he watches this game.

I find it hard to believe that someone cannot be a fan of Origi - in a few years time or even by next season if he stays injury free - he will be one of the most wanted strikers in world football. He is that good.

Firmino and Origi could have a big season ahead. It was a nice workout for the lads. I loved that Henderson practically had to be dragged off, he was enjoying himself so much. Ojo was extremely exciting when he came on. Once again Markovic was pointless.

I really liked that right-footed diagonal pass from Coutinho for Mane's big chance. It totally carved Milan's defense open and the best thing about it is that we will surely see this combination a lot more this season. Mane will give Coutinho another option when cutting in on his right - before he could only shoot or cut back on the left (kind of pointless usually), now he can also try to thread through (or chip) a pass for Mane's diagonal run from the right flank.

Mane will never get tired of making these runs and his physical strength will ensure he is not easily shielded or shoved off the ball (the way Lallana or Sturridge can be at times). We are starting to see the outlines of a strong attack with multiple scoring threats.

Hopefully, Firmino really flies under the radar this year. Last year he was a 30M pound player with a point to prove, this year, he could just boss it.
The more I think about our attacking options the more I think, if we get it right, like I think Klopp will, we are well stacked.

Did he play yesterday?

Liverpool want De Sciglio. Milan reportedly want €18m to let him go. #Mediaset

I'd be very pleased if we got him. As I said in a thread a while back he was my #1 choice after the Euros where he was for me the best LB on show.

Yes he was great in the euros. Great no nonsense defender with a wicked left foot. No worries of a possible Dossena.

Definitely better than Moreno. And i believe he is early 20s? No brainer really if he's available for 18Eur.

It would be great. He scored 5 Premiership goals last season, and his best total is 8 league goals (in the weak French League).

We need a reliable goalscorer

5 goals in 16 games (of which only 7 were starts) is pretty decent, I mean it's not Sturridge or Suarez decent, but then again they were the two best strikers in the premier league and Divock is just a kid bursting onto the scene. Is this really a case of you not seeing it with Divock, or is it more you not wanting to go back on your previous statements?

Dont talk about starts again. Apparantly Benteke was great when he started for us. Yet only scored 3 of his goals when he actually started a game.

Origi is a great talent and could step up and develop into a cracking player this season if given playing time. With Firmino, Ings, Studge and Origi there is no need for one more striker this season.

De Sciglio is crap according to a Milan supporting friend.
I though he did well in the Euros.

Just realized that the defender whom Origi owned for the goal was Palletta whom Rafa bought from Argentina 10 years ago.

This piece on De Sciglio probably sums it up :-

So he's injury prone but plenty of promise. There has to be a reason Conte used to select him for Italy over the other fullbacks though. I thought he was decent in the recent Euros, and likewise with Hector, was the few players in the Germany-Italy penalty shootout who didn't faff about his turn and simply buried it in the net.
