pre season - game 1 - mancs

Remember when the pre-season games were just Souey, Terry Mac et al just going to Dundalk or somewhere to get beat 2-0 but have a mad sesh on the bevvy? The report would literally be the result about 4 pages in from the back page.
IT'S A PRESEASON FRIENDLY. IT DOESN'T MATTER.

Just watched the highlights. Comical defending and openness by both sides (and that's much worse for them because that was their best defence whereas ours didn't include a starter bar Ali for the first 3 goals).
However I was not expecting us to have had as many chances, posts hit, saves by De Gea as there were. We weren't anywhere near 4 goals worse, parity was fair perhaps, even though we played three patchwork teams, with 5 teenagers in the opening XI.

Not going to worry one iota about that from our side - it's just frustrating that it'll have given United (and fans) encouragement that they are on the right path.

Honestly mate, I'm pretty worried.

Van Den Berg didn't play... Did he? There were so many subs I might have missed him.

If so, any idea why?

That's a good spot. Maybe he's the closest to a loan move, so they don't want to risk an injury.

Or he underestimated the power of tom yum soup.
I'd hate to think that we've had an entire summer of people claiming he'd be adequate back up for Trent instead of Gomez and Klopp is giving comedy character Ben Davies time instead of him.

Utd should have scored from at least 2 other defensive cock ups. Rashford's weak effort and Fred failing to put through sancho (I think) who was unmarked in miles of space, they also hit the post as well. David The gay made good stops but were saves he was expected to save.

The result doesn't matter, it really doesn't and really don't need to make excuses. Even if we lost 10-0 it doesn't matter. It's just a training match

I don't need to make excuses. It was as you say a training match. It's just that when I watched the highlights it wasn't the match I was expecting to see.

Jurgen Klopp cut a far from despondent figure after watching his side succumb to a four-goal humbling at the hands of bitter rivals Manchester United in Bangkok.
The German strolled over to his counterpart in Erik ten Hag with a smile, no doubt pleased with aspects of the performance delivered from three separate sides that were rotated throughout the clash.

The Merseysiders were arguably better value than the 4-0 defeat inflicted upon them in Thailand, though the scoreline won’t interest the former Borussia Dortmund tactician until the start of the season proper.

I did enjoy morton playing more as an 8 than a 6.

I also thought that bacjetic(?) looked decent.
