Pre-Match Norwich (A) League Cup. Tuesday 7.45pm

A forward line of Ox, Origi and Minamino doesn't look very inspiring to be honest.

I can certainly see Salah getting a rest but we might see one of Mane or Jota staying in the starting line up. They can always come off early. Depends how close Firmino is to returning I guess.

I hate Norwich. The 6 points every other season is great. They’ve been relegated so many times it seems a waste of a promotion place. Give another team a go. They’re pointless being in the premier league.
THey're gonna knock us out the cup now aren't they, well done Momo you bleeidng idiot.

Nat at CB and Gomez at RB, Jones and Keita (subbed early) in midfield with Milner or Henderson behind them. Play one of the kids alongside Origi and Minamino. I've had it with Chamberlain, reached the Lucas levels of hate for me

Conor Bradley and Kaide Gordon should be featuring as they missed the U23 game vs. Leeds yesterday

That makes sense, given the first team injuries - Kieta must be being rested and Bradley getting a run at RB.

Milner, OX & Jones in Midfield and Gordon, Origi & Minamino to start upfront.

Liverpool under-23s coach Barry Lewtas remained coy over the chance of youngsters Kaide Gordon, Conor Bradley and Tyler Morton featuring against Norwich on Tuesday.

Gordon – like Bradley and Morton, the latter of whom only played 45 minutes on Sunday – looks set to reach a new milestone in his career this week, a feat that is more than deserved judging by his manager’s assessment of his short time at Kirkby so far.
“I think he’s done well. I think whenever anyone’s thrust into the limelight with the first team it can be accelerated, and everyone wants to know a little bit more about him,” Lewtas said.
“But he is still a young boy. He’s still got lots of parts of his game that we think he can get better, which is really exciting because his game is good.
“He’s a really good kid. He’s only young, only 16. But I don’t think he plays like that, especially when he’s in possession of the ball.
“So he’s having a real great experience at the minute. He’s in a good place.”

I dunno. Yes, they're established, but it's still a big risk, bordering on reckless.
You think they'll rest players, I don't. Norwich desperately need a win and we're playing in their ground.
Maybe Tyler Morton?
Called it!

Would love to see some of the youth getting a go in this. Whilst I understand playing Nat, it does feel like a waste of potential minutes for our 3rd & 4th choice CBs. if Konate is 3rd choice, he then seemingly misses out all games where we would play 4th & 5th choice and all games where we play 1st & 2nd choice!

You know when your bird tells you're overthinking things

I see absolutely no point in playing Hendo in this with Brentford and City coming up and Thiago injured. None. I wouldn't risk Naby either TBH.

If Klopp doesn't see the logic (cough) in my Gomez suggestion at DM then Morton it must be. Drop Ox. back and play Gordon on the right. He looked excellent in pre-season and this will likely be mostly Norwich's B side we'll be up against.

Kelleher
Gomez to start at RB, Nat, Konate Tsimikas
Jones, Hendo, Naby
Origi, Minamo ,Ox

Updated team based on Morton, Gordon & Bradley not playing for U23s.

-----------------Kelleher------------------
Bradley--Gomez--Konate--Tsimikas
------------------Morton-------------------
---------Milner------------Jones--------- could also easily see Millie at DM but no risks should be taken with Naby until Thiago injury is better known.
Gordon----------Origi-----------Ox----- would have had Taki in there but Origi looks back in favour

Ox will start, no chance that Klopp leaves him out, despite his wank performances.
I think Klopp is starting to lose faith in him as well. He really spoke highly of him during pre season.

Minamino is an absolute cert to start.

I'd like to win this one, Minamino, Origi and Jota up top pls. Ox in midfield with Jones and whoevers good in the U23. Konate and Gomez at the back, crack head at LB, anything at RB then anyone but Adrian in goal.

Ljinders just confirmed that Trent, Firmino, Neco and Thiago will not be available.
Kelleher will start.

So I hope this is the team:

---------------------------Kelleher
Gomez-------Philips-------------Konate--------Tsimikas

--------------------------Milner
-----------Oxlade-----------------Jones
Gordon---------------Origi------------------- Minamino

Close.

I just wouldn't start Millie again after he put in that 13.5 kms stint against Zaha. We might need him if Trent doesn't recover as quickly as expected. If Klopp won't start Gomez as DM then it has to be Morton (maybe why he only played 45 mins in the U23 game).

Give Milner 45 mins, then replace him with Morton

Ljinders spoke very highly of Kaide Gordon in the press conference.
This boy is a serious talent.
From about 13.20

I would be really surprised if Norwich play full strength with big games against Everton (full of injuries) and Burnley as the two next PL games afterwards.

Klopp should take these midweek cup games off and let Ljinders take charge. (excluding CL of course)

You can more or less judge by the last round how they'll line up...especially seeing as that side won heavily, very much a changed side.
