Pre Match Pre Match - Newcastle (A) - Wed 19:30

Who are we saving Gravy and Macca actually? Everton?
Not just the shite. Who will no doubt try and give their opposition a game for a change on Saturday. Give them 20 minutes tomorrow if needed, 90 against Everton and rest against Girona. 90 against Fulham rest against Southampton. Then into the intense period up to the FA cup game.

Don't think we should start with Mac and Grav. We need to manage the yellow card situation and I wouldn't want both missing for any single match.
Seems like we could just alternate them over the next games, so we do not risk losing both at the same time. I doubt Mac can go three games without a card, even if he only plays 20 minutes of each.

Ideally yes, I'd definitely try to rest them but I'm not liking our options at the moment.
I say start our best against Newcastle, early subs to rest both.

I would normally take that approach but I don’t have faith in us being 4-0 up early enough to make a difference.

Endo, Slobby and Jones should give us enough energy to overpower Newcastle’s midfield.

I have not seen the stats but we are supposedly running less distances during games than we did last season.
This should theoretically mean less of a need for rotation this season

As long as Jones play further forward that might work. We are losing the playmaker typ in midfield though. Endo is a lot of things a playmaker he is not.

We still have the klopp period in the muscle memory. Use the full backs to stretch the game and get balls across the pitch at pace.

With Brentford's home record (best in the league) a home game against us might be seen as much as a chance for points. Especially when they turned Arsenal over. Newcastle will fancy beating anyone on their day at St James park.
Have you seen who've they played ?! Bournemouth or maybe 12th placed West Ham are the best teams they've played - the rest are all in the lower half of the table. They would have been expected to win every one of them. Newcastle will be by far the hardest test they've faced.

I still like the midfield I mentioned above : Gravy, Jones and Szobo to start and if all is going well bring on Endo and Elliott after 60-70 mins.

It’s more like 45-60 seconds for UHD content.

I can hear the reds next door before seeing the ball hit the net.

Oh man that's rough. I used to know someone whose stream was ALWAYS ahead of mine and would ALWAYS instantly text me the moment a goal went in, which was ALWAYS before it appeared on my stream.

It wasn't so much having the goals spoiled that annoyed me, but the knowledge that if he hadn't texted then the current attack MUST have come to nothing.

It effectively just ruined the entire game, so I had to block him in the end.

I’d be fine with bringing in Jones for Mac Allister and subbing Gravenberch early. Nobody can replicate what Gravenberch brings, and I’d argue Newcastle away isn’t the time to experiment. Most of Gravenberch’s yellows are deliberate fouls to stop counterattacks, whereas Mac Allister’s are more reckless because he has all speed and agility of a sinking barge, meaning a good turn and the opponents got two yards on him. I think Grav can manage himself pretty well. I'm never concerned about him getting a second yellow. He's pretty smart about it.

This is so, but they're still an incredibly tough team in their own patch. We've struggled ourselves there in the past few years.

I mute relevant WhatsApp groups for every match
I stay in touch with my son, but we exchange respective times 2 mins into the match and have a strict no spoiler rule
My feed is always behind so always to tell everyone watching to turn off any notifications.

American TV is about 2-3 minutes behind usually.

I remember Ireland scoring a key goal a few years ago, and friends calling me while I was watching the game (Robbie Keane goal v France maybe?) and it was very confusing. That's when I realized..

I was in Orlando for the FA Cup final v Chelsea. Me and my lad found an Irish bar showing it so settled in there. There was a family Scouse group sat by us and during the penalties one of them was just outside the door getting text updates and shouting in the outcome before each pen. CUNT

I was watching the same game game in a bar in Cascais Portugal and found myself surrounded by cockneys on a golf holiday with surprisingly none of them particularly cheering for Chelsea.
I can't remember which Chelsea player first missed his peno but just as he stepped up to take it one of the cockneys shouted "hit the post you cant" which he duly did.
the rest of them jumped on him and he kept his phone in his pocket and his mouth shut for the rest of the shootout.
