Pre Match Pre Match - Newcastle (A) - Wed 19:30

The more thought I give it the more I'm liking the idea of Jomez at LB and Quansah at RCB. We can't expect Robbo to play 3 games in 5.5 days and all of our other LBs (Inc. From U21s etc.) are injured, 4 of them I read somewhere.

Szobo looked full of running so I'm changing my mind there as well. Jones for Macca.

It could be the match Ali returns to give Kelleher a rest (not that he had anything bar one save to make yesterday). Tough decision then for the Ev. match.

Not sure how Endo fits in. Maybe start Gravy and then if all is going to plan get Endo on for 30-35 mins.

Gakpo for Diaz who has had more minutes and travel of late. Nunez and Mo.

Ah better.
This is going to be like watching 11 suicide cases trying to fight two tigers and a polar bear.

We'll probably win since we're the underdogs. Realistically, a 0-3 cockfucking is on the cards.

All of those "maybes" and "what-ifs" mean nothing. We come up against Liverpool we can be leading against 10 men before half time and still find a way to lose. Write it off and think about the next round of the Carabao cup instead.

Time for Nunez to turn into prime R9 again

I was gonna ask will Liverpool go in raw or at least provide lube.

If only there were bonus points for a spirited performance

Think just avoiding getting massacred is a good result.

Gonna get dry humped up the tea-towel holder

Want to be optimistic, but their pace up top will just destroy our CBs. Coupled with the one twos around our flat midfield, it’s going to be tough.

They might have to arrest the entire Liverpool team after the game for GBH.

Only one of the best teams in the world, still - they’re no West Ham though

Poster 1 : No one in the Liverpool team scares me bare Salah tbh
Poster 2 : No but there’s plenty in our team that scare me

We had 2 weeks to recover before West Ham and were shit.

Why is this on TV ? for the benefit of showing how many goals Liverpool may score?

Feeling optimistic for this 0-3

TBF many think it'll be a close game but they'll be plucky losers by the odd goal. Though many more think " Yeah, we're going to get humped on Wednesday. Massive gulf in quality."

Hoping this feeling translates into St James' park as a winter evening under lights has potential to be a firey atmosphere.

They even have a Dreambeliever who supports Man Utd and Spurs. Who also lives in a wardrobe in Australia.

Some things really are universal.

Just think how lucky that guy is… his team actually signed the players our Dreamie wanted to sign in a heartbeat - they had the glory of watching Ryan Fraser play for them!!!

I'm also surprised by the level of fear we are generating.

We haven't blown anyone away.
Suppose it's a bit like Michael myers. Sure, Freddy kruger might be scarier and more inventive, but usually you can escape or get the better of him some way. the relentless slow pursuit by Myers makes it inevitable. Death by 1-0

Genuinely believe we will drop points in this one, the intensity will be a tricky ask and Newcastle have the players to hurt us. Would be ace if Elliott could get some minutes in here

It's wild to think the lead could be as big as 15 points or as small as 3 after the weekend.

if we are the real deal - then we win the next two games - especially those blue cunts. If we draw or lose these games then we are not the real deal and the title challenge is over end of. Both Newcastle, and especially Everton who are absolute garbage. Klop's away record against them was very poor considering how shit they have been during Klops time with us. I want us to totally destroy them away on Saturday and like the man united game away - play the game and not the thuggery occasion they want from us.

At the moment our biggest opponent isn't Newcastle or Everton, it's fatigue.
The squad is getting smaller and smaller every day.

I don't think its that black & white (newcastle pun intended) as the fixture congestion is going to play havoc on everyone. However at this stage points on the board are so incredibly powerful.

I just hope that we have a gap at the top come Jan, when we should be in the market to bolster the squad.

The negatives from losing Konate & Bradley at the back are balanced against gaining Jota and Elliot in the attack (once we start playing them). Especailly if that means we can rest key players in EFL & CL dead rubbers.

Elliott is back and Chiesa is in full training it seems. Kostas could be back next week by the sounds of Slots comments.
Same with Jota given that he said he wouldnt be fit for City or Real, so hopefully close to a return.

Our biggest issue these days is in defence, and seeing as we can't rotate much it will be tough for us.

Getting Kostas, Chiesa and Jota back for the Christmas fixtures would be great. Bradley making an early return would be lovely as well.

Chiesa back will be like a ne... nope, i can't do it. Fuck that guy. How can a professional athlete be so out of shape. I get more and more rattled when I think about it.

Yeah, I agree. But at least we get to see if he can add something or if we will sell him next summer for a profit.
Either way we need him on the pitch. Playing against Girona or in the league cup will be a good start.

I’ll start the camp fire going. We can talk it out like a therapy session. Let it out. Just so you know, I won’t go back into your tent with you.

Yes I do agree with this. In the EFL cup and the final two CL games (assuming we beat Girona and are mathematically guaranteed top 8) I think we should be going quite heavy on rotation. Would be lovely if Chiesa is part of that, letting Mo put his feet up.

You know what - the squad is not that bad - we were always going to face a period when Konate was going to be out, apart from him all our regular starters were playing yesterday. Yes we are short at LB/RB - but hopefully it won't be as desperate as previous seasons coz the backline is now assisted by our midfield to defend.

West Ham dismantled Newcastle with ease, and Crystal Palace should have done the same. Newcastle didn’t even manage a shot on target. Before that, they had decent wins against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, so it depends on which version of Newcastle turns up. Either way, their fans have every right to be worried—because even at their best, it feels like we would need to make some foolish errors to drop points here.

If Newcastle come to play football, they boast a technically solid midfield with Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali, and Joe Willock. However, it’s not the most physical or athletic unit. We should be able to outwork them and take control, Salah, Díaz, Gakpo, and Núñez should have more than enough to exploit a backline that’s nowhere near the same without Sven Botman.

Dan Burn, for example, is likely one of the slowest players in the Premier League, and that’s why Eddie Howe will probably opt to park the bus and start time-wasting from as early as the 12th minute—the shithouse In that case, it we may need to capitalise on set pieces. Without Konaté, the responsibility falls to Virgil van Dijk, who really should be converting more chances. With his ability, he should be bagging at least 7+ goals a season. He's also had two brainfarts in the last two games, which could have been costly. It sounds a bit harsh because he's been excellent and arguably MOTM in the last game, but sharpening up those moments would be key at both ends of the pitch.
