So, we've a few more demons to slay in this game. We have the Benteke factor– he has a fantastic record against us, and is a serious threat at set-pieces (and we don't need any more threat in that regard). Selhurst Park remains a bear pit of a ground, and has never been easy to cope with, and they love turning over the bigger teams. Then there is Pardew. A massive cockhead with a chip on his shoulder. How do you see this going? Team and tactics discussion here folks.

We all know Klopps first team now, with the squad we've got. Play that and we should win, don't really need to do anything special. I expect Benteke to obviously score from a set-piece/corner as even a dwarf could, so we could do with 3 goals to make sure this isn't uncomfortable at the end.

expect to see studge on the bench for this one , which would be a shame.

Oardew will be up for this. Tough game

As well as dealing with Benteke himself we need to clamp down on their wide men supplying the service to him.

Yes, and limit the amount of corners and free kicks around the box that they might win. If we can keep on the front foot for most of the game hopefully their wide players will have plenty of defensive work to get through. At least Bolaisse is gone now who always seemed to play well against us, though Puncheon is there, and he always seems to play well against us too. This is a nervy one.

Scott Dann has been out injured but I think he'll be back for this one. He's their best defender and seems to organise those around him quite well. Cabeye is a good midfielder and Benteke is a threat, they have quality.

It'll be a tough game but I'd hope to see Klopp revert back to our strongest XI and hope that the week off for our attacking trio means theyll be fresh and ready to go.

Think Puncheon is injured at the moment aswell. Got a knock in the last game and is a major doubt at least.
They've also sold Jedinak who was a great threat on set pieces. So at the moment they've got the two centre backs and Benteke who will offer a threat on set pieces.

I'm more worried about Zaha and Townsend having the game of their lives against us. This was their line up when they lost 3-1 to Leicester;

Matip should be able to deal with Benteke. Hopefully.

This will be a tough game no doubt, could easily be a game where we lose some points this. Dont like playing at Selhurst Park.

I'd go:

Karius
Clyne Matip Lovren Milner
Wijnaldum Henderson Lallana
Mane Firmino Coutinho

Good news about Puncheon. You wouldn't get great odds on that being the team. It is nailed on, barring injuries.

The line up is pretty much set, Sturridge will be back on the bench the only dilemma for Klopp as I see it, is if Can or Wijnaldum make the line up.
Considering the height advantage CP has I wouldn't be surprised if Can starts.

Id never wish success to utd but that cunty celebration in the Cup final almost swayed me, he's a whopper.

It's an evening kick off on a saturday, I always back us when we play the late game on the saturday, I'm not sure why.

1-3.

Think it will be a solid midfield with gini can and hendo all starting. Lallana may be on the bench initially.

We need @King Binny to do the stats on our success rates in this slot.

Stupid fact:
Apparently Palace signed Benteke's younger brother Jonathan on the last day of the transfer window.
First Belgian brothers in the premier league. Has one app for them. Then got injured. Out for a few months.

My point is that I dont think there is that much of a height advantage

Yeah, Cabaye is a great player and Dann always seems to be a threat from set-pieces against us too.

Dann, Kelly, Tompkins and Benteke are all taller than our second tallest player, Lovren.
Could be a problem if they all start.
Looking at our usual lineup only Matip and Lovren can compete with them in the air.

Yeah, Dann is probably back. He's always good against us.

The height thing doesnt really matter "that" much. We've just played WBA and Utd who outnumbered us there.

Look at the way you're all bigging up far inferior players to those we've come up against already. Superstitious lot !

Very confident we'll win 3-0 or 3-1.

Nice stat I'll put here as there's no other suitable place for it :

Since last losing to United (lucky cunts we should have won that too) we've played 18 games at Anfield in all competitions, winning 13 and drawing 5.

I have my usual bad feeling about this game.
Same as I have with any game we play.

But once again my cock will be in the wind. (Reminder I only missed the Burnley game this season) so 3 points should be in the bag.

This is a huge test. Does Pardew go for the parked bus and hope for a set piece, or does he allow his quick wingers to attack? If so he expose his team for Mane and possibly Studge....

Can't nobody take our pride, can't nobody hold us down
oh no, we've got to keep on moving...

Thorgan and Eden Hazard? Although I don't think Thorgan ever made an app.

We should set up to out score them.I know that sounds bloody obvious, but i suspect we'll need 3 to win it.

Bolasie being sold will help us massively. Zaha and Benteke are the biggest threats. Cabaye looks off the pace this year. If they have any sense they will launch the ball into the box from wide areas at every opportunity. Karius is bound to fuck up massively.

This fixture is a bit scary - we could win and equally we could lose. I just hope the team are awake for this and carry on with the good momentum. Having seen some of the highlights of Crystal Palace on MOTD - they do not look to be well disciplined this season which of course could work to our advantage and I just hope that the best chances that fall to Benteke ae the one-on-one chances that he misses with regularity. I am also going to make a prediction that the best performer (if he starts) for us will be Gini - as I think Palace will struggle to track his movement.
