Big game. Arsenal’s revolution this season has their team buoyant but they’ve been poor lately and their defence is an absolute shambles.

We should have beaten them at their place and wasted chances. We also let Torreira boss us in the middle. I think Fabinho is back up to speed now and i expect us to focus on winning the CM battle.

—————-Alisson—————-
TAA—---Lovren—Virgil—-Robbo
————Fabs——Gini————
——————-Milner————-
——————Firmino————
———Salah———Mane———

I’m looking forward to this one, think it’ll be a belter.

Any specific news on the Milner "injury"? It is a shame to leave Shaquiri out, but Arsenal got more in their toolbox than Newcastle so it is understandable as well.

I'd put Milner at LB, and have Shaqar or Kieta in MF. Robbo needs a break

I watched the Brighton vs Arsenal game .. Brighton should have won, they walked through their midfield time and time again (where was Torreira ?) and balls played on the break, long to their LB position, was very fruitful .... hello Mo !

Based on their recent form I'd be surprised if we don't win this but Auba is back to his BL form. Forecasting a 3-1 win.

Agree with Brizzle's team (replicated below).

Koscielny and Sokratis started at CB last match I saw and looked extremely ropey, I hope that continues.

We really need to dominate possession, get at their backline and cut off supply to their strength up front.

Agree, though I'd add that Koscielny's actually a decent defender. They've had to rush him back after injury because their other options are so poor.

That's true I've seen him dominate the likes of Messi before but as you say there's no way he'd be starting in his current state unless it was absolutely necessary. I think I actually saw them sub in Monreal at center half a few games before ahead of Koscielny, and Monreal is injured now so that shows where they're at.

It will be a tough test with emery in charge. We need to capitalise on the weak defense with a great start.

A must win game for me, if we are to take the psychological advantage when we play city. Hopefully someone can keep PEA quiet this game.

Starts about 18 mins in.

Klopp was asked about Moreno moaning about not playing (!). Klopp said he behaves well in training, but otherwise declined to discuss it.

The usual polite stuff about the opposition. The previous game has been analysed. Emery likes to change formations, even a few times during games. e're ready for that. Our forward like didn't defend well enough last time - they need to improve that.

Injury update: Milner is ahead of schedule, but not available for tomorrow. Solanke still injured. Gomez and Matip progressing well but still out for a while. Oxlade-Chamberlain back in basic training, no reaction after initial sessions, could be back in Feb doing normal training.

Shaqiri: he's adapting more and more, he's getting more passing options, but Klopp's talking to him all the time about how he can improve.

When told he's the most popular German in the UK, he said, 'That's just because of the alternatives'.

No Milner... do we think it’s all 3 of Fabs, Hendo & Gini, or Fabs + 1 with Naby?

The big question before the game is, do we go for more "control" with a 4-2-3-1 that we use against weaker sides or the high-energy 4-3-3 we trot out for "big" games (Napoli, United etc). Arsenal is a big game on paper, but their recent injury crisis made them so vulnerable in defense that perhaps you could justify the former approach. In the end I think Klopp will treat it as a big game and go for the high-press style again, which means 4-3-3 and no Shaqiri.

Front 3 and back 5 pick themselves, but who is going to be the 3 in midfield? I actually think we might see Keita again – yes, he was not particularly effective in recent games, but Klopp will surely want to keep working on him and hopefully improving him game by game. Remember how awful Ox looked around the same time last season? Brendan and a few others were ready to run him out of town; I remember thinking myself after the loss to Swansea that we won't see Ox start for a while – but fortunately Klopp is a lot more patient than most of us. The other 2 will probably be Henderson and Fabinho, who seemed to develop a nice understanding in the last couple of games. The nice thing about all of this is that we'll have a lot quality on the bench – the likes of Shaq, Gini and Sturridge can all come on and change the game if required.

4-3-3:
---------------Alisson---------------
---------Lovren-----Van Dijk-----
Trent--------Hendo--------Robbo
-------Fabinho------Keita--------
Salah-------Firmino--------Mane

Subs: Mignolet, Clyne, Moreno, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Shaqiri, Sturridge

He's amazingly funny, likeable and cool. He breaks all Teutonic stereotypes.

Their backline looks susceptible being bullied by any pace , I'd play the same side that played United , same tactics too.

I would go with that 4-3-3 line-up and then when we are 5/4-0 ahead by half time - I would get the power-cube on and take of Keita. Seriously if they play like they did against Brighton - they are f*cked big time. I really think the front 3 of ours are now ready for the season and with the backing of Fab - we are 100% ready to smash this Arsenal team to bits. I would not be surprised if the game ends up 7-0/7-1 to us. Just remember you heard that from MORON.

I think we all have to remember this Arsenal team shredding Spurs a few weeks ago. They are a team, albeit with their own issues, but well worth respect. We should beat them, but they have the tools to score against us.

Yep, & if I were their manager coming into this, I'd know full well that their defence is going to concede, so my only tactic would be to try to get as many chances as possible & go bombing out to get the early goal.

Most teams try that cliched 'survive the first half an hour', but that doesn't work anymore, even our fucking fans don't fall for it & just sit waiting for us to wear them into submission instead of getting all antsy about us not scoring.

Whether he'll have the balls to do that, & run the risk of a humiliating loss should we take advantage of the gaps left at the back, who knows, but if they tried it I wouldn't be at all surprised.
