I agree with the Agger haters. I don't care for the micro-analysis of the lead up to the goal, but bottom line is he should've managed the threat without much bother once Campbell had the ball.

Anyway, I expect he'll be sold in the summer and we'll bring in a good replacement.
 
Flannagan didn't get enough protection at times but still needed to do better in my opinion. Agger was poor, particularly for that Campbell goal, though I do think he can get a raw deal on here.

It'll be interesting to see if Sakho gets a go in the run-in.
 
there's a reason flanno was taken off and that big shithouse aly brought on - young flanno struggled, partly because of no protection but cardiff targeted the left just like city and chelsea will. like all young players flanno will dip in form, but he was poor yesterday.
 
He was resting Flanno. You have to protect your young players and he's run himself into the ground every game.

He was caught in no mans land a bit for Campbell's goal and when he closed him down he invited Campbell to cut back inside and in doing so significantly improve the shooting angle.He was also in no man's land for the third goal moving out of and then partly retreating back into, the space from which Mutch scored from.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Sakho start against Sunderland

For the first goal wasn't it a misplaced pass from Allen (or Flanno? Can't remember) that caught us off guard?
I thought Gerrard should have been sprinting back to support Agger instead of just standing outside the box, and it's quite harsh to blame Agger for being beaten for pace one vs one.

I did he's defending for the 2nd goal was brutal, defending 101 when your isolated 1v1 against a quick player is to show him down the outside away from goal, at least if he gets past you he normally will have a tight angle to shoot from or have to cross it back across goal where maybe one of your team mates can cut it out. But letting him beat you on the inside is criminal.

He wasn't beaten for pace though, he allowed himself to be turned too easily and his recovery was non-existent. If he'd got tight to the man to begin with and just held him up, cutting off him trying to turn inside then it's an easy interception. Instead, he turned like an arctic and was a yard behind the player. He looked so sluggish and cumbersome it's unreal. For the third goal he moved out of the centre, ball watching and allowed Skrtel to end up stuck between two Cardiff players.

Yeah, it was a shit pass from Allen that eventually led to the goal.

Maybe, not sure. I think getting up tight on a guy much quicker than you, facing goal, is asking for a penalty. Just thought Gerrard could have sprinted back so that the guy couldn't cut inside.

Exactly. How the he'll do you get tight on someone coming at you with pace?

Resting flanno? Not sure I saw it like that. The lad is young and hungry enough to play as long as he is asked to. I saw it as a tactical move to try and shore things up, and yes, with Cissokho!
