Post game thoughts - Everton

Hard to take that in.

Superb finish to a game we didn't look like winning.

Studge added that extra bit of directness we lacked and willingness to get a shot off.

I thought Lovren and Klavan were superb and bar one poorish kick Ming had another competent game.

What a signing Mane has been.

Hurry back you little legend!

Mignolet - 7 nothing to do but controlled the box
Clyne - 6 had loads of space and didnt use it
Milner - 6 as above
Klavan - 7 torrid first 45 strong after
Lovren - 9 absolutely imperious all game

Henderson - 7 much better second half
Wijnaldum - 8 brilliant
Lallana - 6 his worst game in ages

Mane - 7 extra point for the goal
Origi - 6 weak and poor touch
Firmino - 6 could have scored too but overall not great.

Mane is the best signing we have made since Suarez

I was delighted when we signed him, and was confident he'd be exactly what this team was lacking, adding much needed pace and goals, but even I didn't expect him to be this effective

So important

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC Sport: "I don't agree it was a poor first half. Maybe not the best football. You have to adapt to Everton's wild game. A game like this you have to interrupt their rhythm with passing.

"In the second half it was clear they couldn't do the same - we were better. We didn't give one chance away.

Hahahaha!

Gritty win but we kept our intelligence.

Gini and Milner were brilliant - both doing simple, clever, cool-headed stuff.

Lovren was really good tonight. And as Delia would say: 'Let's be Klavan ya!'

I don't think Mane quite realises how easy it is for him to scare defenders with his pace. But full marks to him for following up and scoring.

Hard to disagree with that. I thought Lallana played alright though and would have given him a 7 with Gini a 7 too.

"Wild game of Everton" Klopp says. What he really means is their shithouse tactics and blatant thuggery which we had to ride out in the first half.

Unlike Arsenal last week, we weren't intimidated. They really needed to score in that first 30mins. I was confident we'd win the game as long as Dean didn't screw us with poor decisions (God bless him, he tried still).

The ref was a blind cunt. Ahhhh that's why fans call the ref a wanker, to insinuate that he has gone blind. You learn something new every week.

Clyne - 6 had loads of space and didnt use it
Milner - 6 as above
Klavan - 8 didn't put a foot wrong and made a superb tackle in the first half to deny Lukaka. Very composed in possession
Lovren - 9 Best game in Red perhaps

Henderson - 7 Made some great tackles and really pushed us on 2nd half
Wijnaldum - 8 Popped up everywhere showing for the ball when teammates were in a jam and never lost it, just effortlessly moved the ball on.
Lallana - 6 didn't really impose himself at all but that's ok after last week.

Mane - 6 - Poor game but great anticipation for the goal
Origi - 6 Too light, too weak under pressure but worked very hard
Firmino - 5 Could have had 2 on another day but overall was one of his poorest games

Klopp - 8 - Made effective changes at the right time both tactically and in personal.

Just took this pic of Mane leaving woodison.

Good to see Wijnaldum getting some appreciation in the match thread.

That was one thing that I thought to be most pleasing and very positive.
In such a frantic and difficult game were our mentality and skill wins it late on, its even more pleasing to see that 3 of our best players tonight were signed this summer.

Its like we know what we're doing in the transfer market. Boss. Boss all around.
Gini was excellent.

Hard to take that in.

Superb finish to a game we didn't look like winning. .......

I almost never doubted we'd win. they were never going to score, Lovren & Klavan imperious, and I was just waiting, and waiting and waiting for the goal (or two). I was counting down the seconds at the end though.

OK after 07.00 here and I need to get to bed .. if I can sleep at all.

Mignolet - 7 - good distribution, seems a lot more confident and actually came out of his box on a few occasions - almost worth MoM for that alone !
Clyne - 5 - pretty poor for him TBH
Milner - 7 - good both in defence and mostly in attack.
Klavan - 8.5 - who the hell said he had a torrid 45 mins ? He didn't put a foot wrong all night despite pressure from one of the PL's strongest strikers. Excellent.
Lovren - 9 - superb game, great tackle on Lukaku in the box.

Henderson - 7 - mixed but improved as the match went on.
Wijnaldum - 8.5 - tick tock.
Lallana - 6 - very quiet.

Mane - 7 - always troubled them but really needs to improve his chips and flicks.
Origi - 6 - not his best game but was very strong on the ball. Passing and chips and flicks, as Mane's, weak.
Firmino - 6.5 - much improved second half, worked his balls off.

Wijnaldum is a proper footballer. Some really nice touches and interplay today. But we need more from him.

He reminded me tonight of Digger against Newcastle in that 4-3. Very calm, clear-headed and constructive.
